Description: Often times students rush into things before they're ready to handle them, especially when it comes to relationships. Word has already spread like wild fire about a recent break up. Kaname Airi, an upperclassman known to be quite sweet and naive, has just broken up with her boyfriend after an upsetting argument. She is very devastated, often being found in tears because of it. But the past few days the air around her is dark and depressing...something's wrong.

Once upon a time, Yuki had dated a few girls. He had charmed a few of them when he hit on them, and they were pretty cute, but in the interest of appearing more 'available' he never really stayed with them. It'd broken a fair amount of hearts, he was sure, and now that he had stopped flirting with girls and reflected on his actions, he felt terrible about it.

One of said dates was an upperclassman that he flirted during a karaoke party. She was one of those girls who were a bit naive, and his interest waned the clingier she got after one date. So he was relieved that, some time afterward, she found someone else, so he could fool around with someone else. Fast forward months later, though, and the word around the school was that she had broken up with her boyfriend and was understandably depressed about it. As he had only known her briefly, he didn't look too much into it.

But one day, after school, he saw her pass by in the courtyard. The look in her eyes wasn't just sadness – no, X-Eggs had to have something to do about it. He did swear that he would fight and purify eggs now, but did it really have to be her? He was afraid she would remember him – and make her mood worse.

“What are you waiting for, Yukiya-dono! You saw it, didn't you?” Kanpa asked, flying after her already. He sighed, but he was right. He was going make sure she was purified. He had to. So he turned around and followed her, just to see what would happen.

Ai [wink wink nudge]

You meet, you fall in love, then for whatever reason, you become strangers once again: That's how relationships are... in theory, ar least. There's no denying that on person's actions can affect another's life, it can lead to a broken heart or even broken dreams. This surely was the case of Kaname Ari, a third-year student who took the break up with her boyfriend a little too hard.

She hadn't even had her heart's egg for a long time. She was still getting to know her dream and her guardian, but now... it was all futile. That dream had been corrupted, regardless if it was because of that break-up or if there was something else that contributed to it. The girl hadn't even told anyone about her guardian, so who would be able to help her?

That was a question she couldn't voice, not even think about in her current condition. The aura around her was vastly different from the usual. Almost in a zombie-like state, the girl went to and from school, ate and did her homework. These repetitive actions she did without thinking were like an annoying tune you ended up learning because you'd been listening so long.

Today was the same. She walked to school, her body movements awkward, choppy and almost robot-like, which were different from her usual hyper and bouncy self. In a way, it was almost like the girl was begging for others to notice that there was something wrong. Behind her, a small X-egg floated, whispering slowly, for just her to hear. "Jump....twirl....bounce...useless..."

As the two trailed her, he noticed her odd movements. It was almost she was a like a broken doll walking around, trying to do her normal routine but wasn't able to do a thing. The two got closer, and they finally found the X-Egg behind her. Yup. He had to get involved...he'd try to find someone else to help him normally, but a part of him was ashamed from the way he treated her before. As much as he didn't want to talk to her, he thought that he should try to do this alone.

Yuki ran in front of her, to get her attention. He stopped right in front of her. "Um, hey. Senpai," he said. Be cool, dammit. Cool, but not a jerk. "How you've been?"

[Ai]

Airi didn't notice Yuki trailing her, not even when he got closer. She looked too absorbed into her own world, a world which, mind you, couldn't be too pretty. She barely noticed anyone as she walked, not even friends or teachers: she just passed by without greeting them. People were whispering behind her back, saying that she's being too much for just a plain break-up, she shouldn't take revenge on all her friends who were trying to cheer her up.

However, as Yuki positioned himself in front of her, Airi bumped into his chest and was forced out of her trace. Looking up, she was mildly surprised to see that person in front of her. Her brows twisted, not sure what to make of this encounter. "Minamoto." She spoke, simply, not using the "-kun" suffix as she normally would've. "I have been well." There was something fake, almost robotic in the way she said those words. As if it couldn't possibly be true. "How can I help you?"

Wow - she did remember him. But more importantly, there were quite a few people chatting around them about her, and a lot of it wasn't good. He smoothed out his hair. "Ah, just haven't seen you in a while. Heard some things, wanted to check on you. That kind of stuff," he said as casually as possibly. Of course, there was a person he heard saying that 'that dude's trying to hit on her', and he groaned.

"Oh, but uh..." he said. Okay. He to think of a way to get her out of this nosy crowd. "...I thought I could use your advice on something. Privately," he said. He had no idea what kind of advice he needed but that sounded like the best thing he could think of. "I know this isn't the best time, but it's something I think you would know the best. Could...you help me?"

[Ai]

Of course she remembered him. There was no way she could forget...

...someone who had hurt her.

Airi wasn't bothered by the chatting going on around them, as if she couldn't hear the whispers and words that were directed to her. Similarly, Yuki's words didn't make much sense. Why would he look for her again after what he'd done to her. Just thinking about the past, about how he'd fooled her... made the girl angry. "Why would I want to help you?" She snapped at the boy. Although this made her seem somewhat more lively, her eyes were still hazy and dark.

So she did remember.

Yuki winced. She had every right to be mad at him, even if it was a long time ago. Still, the dull look in her eyes didn't fade. He had to think of something that would jolt her away, or else the X-Egg would roam free...How many times would his false words of love put him in troubles like these? He backed off a little, but he refused to move too far.

"...I know," he said finally. His fist was trembling. "...I know I don't really have any right to ask you for anything. So forget about my request. I just want to make up for what I did last year," he said. "...and help you. Please."

With the amount of people around him, though, this was starting to become a scene. An embarrassing one that people could misread easily. But he stood there until Airi gave him the okay - or denied it, which was a total possibility. He just refused to let that X-Egg stay corrupted...

[Ai]

All of this cam as a very funny thing to Airi, albeit it did not show on her face. Why would he, someone who had deceived her, suddenly show kindness? Did he want her back? And he just waited for the perfect opportunity for her to break up with her boyfriend? That was a dirty strategy, but it wasn't like she would, in fact, have him back. Airi might be easily swept off her feet, but she wasn't the kind of person to make the same mistake twice.

Again, the girl didn't seem to be aware of the people staring at them and whispering. She couldn't care less, for all that mattered. "Make up... help me... why? You never had feelings for me so why?It's not just you... Nobody will ever like me. It's useless." The egg beside her bounced and screeched while she uttered those hopeless words. It seemed pleased, in a creepy way.

"I..." he began. Was it selfish for him to even try? In reality, yes, she was right. He never had feelings for her, and he still didn't. Really, all he wanted to do was make up for the past, and purify the X-Egg that was darkening her thoughts. He hated that everyone around them was staring at them. Enjoying their little drama.

No, this wasn't the time to overthink this. If he did, he would just run away like a coward again. Instead, he just shook his head. "Come on, let's talk about this somewhere away from everyone else, okay?" he asked, with a smile, "You're not useless. There's people who like you. Just because that guy didn't like you doesn't mean that no one will ever like you."
