What a mess the day had been!  Sayuri had woken up in the morning with strange pains running through her calves, a surefire sign of swelling.  She'd been going to school for a couple days now and everything had seemed to be progressing smoothly.  She'd barely touched the emergency crutches her parents kept around and she was even able to carry her books all by herself!  Of course, she still took the elevator whenever possible but that was more to please her parents than anything else.  Today was different though.  After the pains in the morning and the tenderness around her knees, she'd skipped out of bed and headed straight for school.  She'd made it up to lunch before her condition caught up to her, forcing her out of classes and into the infirmary.

Still, she'd made it this far, right?  This was only a minor set-back and it wasn't like she was completely out of commission for the day.  Already trying her best to sooth her swollen joints, Sayuri looked around for a pair of available crutches.  If she could just make it out of here, she could head back for the last few periods of the day.  Nothing was going to stop her from attending classes at Seiyo, not even a little bit of pain!  She'd eat properly tonight and get some rest, and by the morning she'd be brand new. 

Or at least, that's all she could hope for, right?

His entire body ached, really if anyone knew him they'd agree he definitely deserved it. Provoking another student until the two of them were wrestling it out on the floor, a few bruises and cuts were more than warranted. He'd retreated to the infirmary as fast as he could, looting around to find a few things to patch himself up.

Someone had come in before he'd noticed, he finished patching himself up before turning around gracefully knocking something over in the process. It took a moment but he eventually noticed the other student residing in the room with him. He paused for a moment, giving her a look before looking back down at what he'd knocked over.

A pair of crutches.

Still in a bit of a sour mood the third year gave her a slight smirk. "Uwaa...my bad. Were you looking for those?" He bent down to pick them up, wincing in the process as his sore back reminded him to smarten up. Not that he would. "Now what does a young lass like you need these for?" He swing them side to side from hand to hand, playing with them as he teased her.

Sayuri had been stretching her legs on the bed when she heard someone else enter the room. She paid them no mind, focused almost entirely on her work until she heard the clatter of something falling down. Breathing deeply, she sat up slowly to keep from staining herself any further before being met face-to-face with a lone upperclassman.

He held the crutches she'd been looking for in his hands, swinging them from side to side as he spoke. He seemed nice enough with his lovely blonde hair and strange looking smile on his face. Why was someone like him in the infirmary? Did he get hurt or something? Oh no, and here she was taking up a whole bed when he might be seriously injured.

Standing up slowly, she offered him a gentle smile. "I was! Thanks so much for finding them. I uh..." She paused for a moment, trying her best not to chicken out of honesty. People at this school had the right to know! Besides, what harm could it do? "I have arthritis so they help me walk! They're not really necessary, they just help get around. Would you mind giving them to me, or do you need them for something?"

He raised an eyebrow at her, what an odd girl....he already didn't like the looks of her. "Nah. I don't need 'em but I mean, you made it this far. You probably don't either." He shrugged slightly, continuing to play with them as he swung them back and forth between each hand.

"I mean they're just sticks aren't they?" He inspected them, turning them around and around before giving her another shrug. "They're pretty flimsy and poor excuses for assisting anyone right?" He dropped them to the floor before giving them a decent stomp. He stepped ontop of the crutch, giving it a few stomps as he seemed to "test" them out.

"Hmm...Yeah, definitely don't need these."

Sayuri watched as the boy refused to give her the crutches, instead throwing them on the ground and stomping on them. That didn't seem like proper procedure but then again, she wasn't a doctor either. They were only the back-up crutches in the nurses office, not nearly as sturdy as the ones back at home. Could it be he was worried about them breaking on her and he was trying to test how much they could hold? Well, that was awfully nice of him but the stomping might not have been the right approach. How nice though that he was so worried about her.

"Um, I don't think you need to worry!" She said cheerfully, believing she now understood his intentions. Of course he couldn't mean any real harm. He probably thought they were of a low caliber compared to the ones usually used by people like her, "It's okay! I've used them before and they're only to get me to my next class. I'm almost positive I left a metal set in the lockers in the back of the room, I just need to make it there. Thank you for your concern though! Medical equipment can be tricky but you should take care of yourself before anything else."

"Yeah...worry...concern...that's..." He looked at her with a quizzical look. She was...very dense. He'd had such an irritated mood but he could feel it almost instantly fizzle when his intentions soared right over her head. Was there even a point in continuing? He shook his head, rubbing the back of his neck. "Not exactly where I was goin' with that."

"Need to make it back there...? How far it is exactly? How the hell are you gonna make it there if you need crutches in the first place?" He continued to look at her with a raised eyebrow as he didn't quite understand. Was she certainly going to attempt to make it there when it was obvious she'd needed those crutches in the first place.

[Sayuri]

"Hmm, well I'm in 2-D, so it's not too far away?" Sayuri didn't know the layout of the school well enough yet. She'd spent most of her time on the second floor and the lunch room, heading out a back entrance to return to return to her driver. Luckily someone in her class had been able to escort her here with no trouble at all. "I'm sure I can make it by the end of the day if I try hard enough."

If she tried hard enough she could get to the class and back without crying much, and once she had her crutches she could call someone to pick her up. It only made sense Stairs would pose an issue but if the other was willing to help... "Could you help me, by any chance? It's not far away but I think you're right. It'll be a strain on my legs to make it there without causing serious injury."

"You don't exactly sound so sure about that one." He cocked an eyebrow at her as she attempted to sound confident. Though her questionable response made it very hard to buy. "If you 'try hard enough'? Why bother? It's not exactly worth it." Nothing in this school seemed to really be worth it and yet she bothered pushing her further just to make it through the day when it was obvious it was a trick and a half for her.

He frowned at her for a moment. He ran a hand through his hair before sighing, he picked up the crutches he'd done a number on. He tossed them to the side, before looking back at Sayuri. If she got caught in some sort of injury on her way back...he didn't want anyone coming to whine at him for it. "Fine. Whatever. I guess."

"But this school is super worth it!!!" Sayuri replied, folding her fingers together to hold them up. This school was her dream school and she wanted to do her best not missing a single day. She had worked so hard just to attend and now she was stuck slithering around until someone could pick her up. She just had to make it back to class, she couldn't let a single weakness hold her back. The other might not be as thrilled about school as she was but it seemed like he was willing to help. At the very least she was grateful for that. "High school only comes around once. You have to make the most of it while you're here, and Seiyo is by far the best place to experience life."

At his eventual sigh and resignation, she perked up, scooting over to him with sparkling eyes. "Great! I'll just take your arm then, if you don't mind...." With a wobbly hand she reached over to the other, hesitating to grab his arm as she did her best to gain her balance. There was definitely an ache but nothing she couldn't handle. She wasn't feverish either, a good sign for someone as symptomatic as her. Once her feet were planted on the floor, she motioned towards the door of the infirmary. "So, shall we go?"
