Junko's father never turned down a visit from his daughter.

He had never really expected the move to change things so much. Suddenly she was out of the house, living in the dorms that the school provided before he'd had a chance to blink. Leaving him such an empty and quiet house to come home to. It was something he wasn't used to and it took a while to adjust before she once again suddenly came running back after a few months. She'd returned with a certain look on her face, one he hadn't seen for a few years. It was hardly any skin off his back to welcome her back.

He noticed something, she had changed. 

Her attitude towards some things was slight different, handling some things with a more mature outlook than she'd once had. She still maintained her optimistic outlook, her big smile hadn't disappeared and for that he was thankful. But he could tell, she'd seen some things she may not have been quite ready for whether she'd liked it or not. But he never pried, keeping quiet and offering her support when she came home and curled herself up on the couch. Sometimes more than often.

It was yet another hard thing to adjust to, his daughter was growing up while he wasn't around. There was no scrap booking this anymore. She was moving faster and faster than he knew.

What he hadn't expected was for her to bring someone home and he wasn't exactly thrilled...

She was on her way home one weekend after spending most of her time at the school for various reasons she'd assured her father. With everything going on she liked to make trips home very often, the presence of her father reassuring. This time she'd dragged along Daichi, knowing her father wasn't really supposed to be home for a bit. She'd grabbed onto his hand and dragged him back to the house, insisting he stay for dinner. She was supposed to be alone for dinner tonight and honestly she didn't really want to be....

She hadn't expected her father to come home early.

"Come on Dai-chan!" She pulled her friend inside the house, taking off her shoes before hurrying into the house to be welcomed by her father on the couch with a paper in his hand. "AH!! DAD!!" She raised her arms before hurrying over and plopping herself in his lap. 

"Hello Junko."

He lowered his paper for a moment, looking down at Junko as she grinned back at him. He then looked....to the boy in his house with a stern eye. 

"Hello." 

[Daichi]

Junko had invited him over and asked him to say for dinner. Considering it was Junko a simple no wouldn't suffice so in the end he did agree to say. Daichi himself had really no family to go home to. That wasnt- the whole truth. He had a family, but his brothers where away a much to far out of reach for him. His mother was at home too- And she loved him, She did, no doubt about that. It was his own father who, well for the lack of a better term- Hated Daichi's whole existence. So going home to have dinner with his own family? Unlikely.

In all honesty he was kinda happy Junko invited him.

" I'm coming, I'm coming. Good grief." Daichi laughed as he was pulled along and inside the house. Closing the door behind him as they passed through. He bent down to untie his shoes at the door before pressing further inside. Seeing Junko's father on the couch he gave a slight bow as he was addressed.

" Hello, Mr.Kinjo. Nice to meet you. I'm Fujiwara Daichi." He introducing himself under the others stern eye didn't really bother him all that much.

The older man stared Daichi down, looking the other student up and down as he attempted to get an impression of him just from his standing there. He let out a huff, ignoring his greeting all together as he returned to his paper. "You didn't tell me we were going to have company Junko."

"I didn't know you were going to be home Daaad." She replied, elbowing him in the stomach before she climbed off his lap and back onto her feet. "What do you want for dinner?" Her father looked up from the paper for a moment before returning his gaze back to the headlines with a slight shrug. "Surprise me..."

Junko smiled, moving her hands behind her back before she looked to Daichi. "Any preferences Dai-chan?" Dai-chan? Junko's father eyed her curiously, so he had a nickname....That wasn't promising.

Junko moved towards the kitchen, pulling an apron off one of the chairs by the table as she pulled it on. Thankfully the kitchen was still within his view from the couch, otherwise he'd have to awkwardly move from his spot with some sort of excuse.

[Daichi]

A yes the cold shoulder. How expected yet, unexpected. Are Junko and this man really related? Compare the bubbly and optimistic Junko. Her father seemed to be as emotional as a brick. He thought there would be- Maybe a small nod at the very least. Nope. A huff was all he got. Alright then. Daichi end up shrugging it off quickly. Maybe he just wasn't much of a talker.

" Hm, I don't really have one at the moment." The boy smiled at her and shrugged before following her to the kitchen. Rolling up his sleeve on the way there. Having every intent on helping the girl out with dinner. After all they both were President and Vice President of the cooking club.

" So Jun-Jun, what are we cooking? " He asked curiously. Walking over to the fridge and looking at its contents. " And what do you need me to do?" Moving one hand to his hip, leaving his other hand on the fridge handle. He could wash rice, chop whatever, prep-seafood or other meats. He was a man of many talents after all. Cooking was one of them.

It took almost very fiber of his being not to drop the newspaper and have his head whip right around the moment Daichi whipped out the Jun-jun. This kid had the balls to call his daughter by a nickname as well? He'd underestimated the boy. A mistake he'd be sure not to make again as he continued to sit on the couch and eavesdrop on the two.

"Mmm...." She tilted her head side to side for a moment before finally deciding. "Let's go with Sukiyaki then since Dad's home tonight. He's a sucker for beef and tofu." Curses Junko, you don't hand out your weaknesses to the enemy so easily. He'd have to be careful now. "Ah here, you can use this apron." She walked over to a pantry door in the kitchen, pulling out another apron. A classic "kiss the cook". His BBQing apron, Junko how could you, you traitor.

"Hmm....you wanna start the noodles and chop up some of the veggies? I'm gonna get started on the wagyu." She moved over to the kitchen, pulling out a few vegetables, a package of udon noodles, the beef and a few various other ingredients they would be needing eventually.

"Be careful with the knife, Junko."

She huffed rolling her eyes before she responded to her father's warning. "Yes, Dad of course." She shook her head, pulling out one of the knifes as she got to slicing the meat thinly.

[Daichi]

"Sukiyaki it is then." Daichi smiled at the girl. Then as the Junko handed him the apron, Daichi for a moment looked at the front of it. 'Kiss the cook'. Classic indeed. Putting it over his neck and tying it behind his back in a quick matter. " You got it." He nodded at the girls orders.

" Noddles and Veggie coming right up." Though he didn't have a cutting board at all. Or a pot. The boy was quick to problem solve on his own while Junko cut the meat. He opened up a few of the cabinets, before he found what he needed. He started a pot full of water, putting it on burner to get it to boil so he could put in the Udon noodles to cook them. While he waited on that he grabbed the vegetables and a knife.

He started with the shiitake mushrooms. Cutting the stems off and making little x's on the tops of them. The boy seemed to hum as he worked witch wasn't to uncommon for him. After that was done he moved it to the end of the cutting board. Enokitake and it was more or less the same thing. Chop off the stems, and separate them. He cut the green onion, and normal Onion as well.

As the water got to a boil Daichi put in the noodles and waited. " Say Junko, where's the strainer at?" He asked. Figuring, rather then let the noodles over cook looking for it, he should just ask.

Hearing Daichi's humming gave her an idea.

She finished preparing the meat, quickly rinsing her hands before she rummaged through the pantry once again. She pulled out a fairly dusty CD player, placing it on the table before she wiped it off and plugged it into the outlet in the wall. She popped open the top of the player, her eyes sparkling as she spotted the same old disc still inside before she closed it shut. She cranked up the volume a smidge, hitting the play button before returning to their work.

He was lucky he was hidden behind a newspaper as his face softly flushed. He was all too familiar with this CD as was she, the lil stinker. It had been his wife's, a group she had loved when she was still alive. When he and Junko had a bad night or things were looking tough he often brought it out, the two dancing around the house like idiots until they couldn't smile any more. It'd become a favorite of Junko's although it'd been a while since she'd last brought it out. She was in a good mood then...

"Ah! It's over here in this cupboard..." She moved next to him, reaching up as she opened the cupboard door. She brought the strainer down, setting it near the noodles for when they were ready. She then returned to the meat setting it on a separate place before moving to the fridge as she pulled out a container of tofu and a few eggs. Preparing both would be easy enough, as well as mixing the sauce. They just needed the pot and noodles and they could start the show!
