Corea Juon was among the slowest members of the swim team.
It wasn't that he didn't try, or that he didn't train, or that his technique was bad, or that he wasn't strong; there was just something that was holding him back from getting any faster, no matter how hard he worked.
... Or, at least, this was what he told himself.
But the evidence was there to prove his point: he practiced almost daily, he stayed active, and he constantly tried to work to improve his times. The thing that kept him down at the end of the day was his mentality; he worked so hard, and for no reward, he had simply given up the idea that he would ever improve: though he kept working, he already knew that it wasn't going to make a difference, and he was likely doing it just for the sake of it.
He still tried, though.
And he was continuing to try on that particular day; a meet was coming up, and he refused to continue proving himself a weak link. But next to their stronger swimmers, he couldn't even begin to compare.
One of those stronger swimmers was one that he had trouble approaching, even though he knew he needed to make an attempt to engage him for the sake of maybe grappling some advice or wisdom off of him, because all of his current tactics were coming up short, and he needed new ones. The problem, though, was that said individual was Aragaki Aomi; though they were in the same year, he couldn't help but feel shadowed by him: he was taller, stronger, and people took him seriously--but he also often convinced himself that the guy had to be a lug headed buffoon because of all such things, even if it was merely for the sake of his own pride. Still, though, the guy was intimidating, especially due to his relationship with Nao. If he could just figure out how to approach and converse with him with his dignity in tact, maybe it could make some kind of a difference.
Juon had decided to be subtle about it. He'd waited until a point during practice when Aomi was out of the pool; downtime, between practice heats (or something; he was too fixated on what he was about to attempt to have been paying much attention to anything that was happening around him. It was also likely someone had called him out for being in the way, but he couldn't have been more out of it), going to stand next to him--casually--crossing his arms, staring out over the pool.
He couldn't bring himself to say anything yet, but he'd at least made it over. Maybe it would be interpreted as casual and cool. This was what he convinced himself of, in the meantime.
