It was about an hour after class had ended. There seemed to be fewer students roaming the hallways, most likely because finals creeping were their way up. As Rin passed the library’s doors, she let out a small grumble. Not once had she taken any time to study yet for her finals. The girl was under the impression that this whole study group session would be a waste of time. She already knew this would not be a routine thing. No way would she find herself studying every day or even every other day for that matter. So really, why was she even bothering with trying this once?


Oh well, she was already here. The first-year made her way to a large table with a sign that read “study group”. Surprisingly, only a few students were present for this study group. Rin took a seat on a chair at the very end of the table. Instead of pulling out a book from her tote bag, she reached in and grabbed her phone. Not even a minute has gone by, and she was already fiddling with her phone over studying. How these kids had any motivation to study was beyond her.


Demi Kiyoka

[Demi]

Studying... came naturally to Demi. Ever since she moved to Japan, it's all she's done. She'd always been a smart cookie and retained all of her studies, but she still continually studied. Hearing about the study group caused her to want to attend. Not to be tutored, or even to tutor anyone... but just because it would be a quiet place where she could study. She probably wouldn't even sit at the study group table... maybe nearby, just in case someone randomly spouted information she could use.

Heading into the library, she made her way over to the table designated for the study group. She scanned the area... not really seeing anyone she knew. Then again, she didn't know that many people yet! Either way, she headed over to an empty spot and set her bag down. She noticed a couple of students slacking already... playing on their cellphones or chattering softly away, but... she just quietly pulled out her books, grabbed her notebook and pencil (by the way, her pencil looks like this). She clicked the lead out, then opened her book to the section she was studying. Honestly she was farther into the book than they were supposed to be, but she didn't mind studying back too much. Reviews were good.

[Kiyoka]

Libraries, in Kiyoka's opinion were for loitering. Forget gathering literary knowledge, the library was meant for hiding out away from your responsibilities, pretending you looked busy without having other people bother you.

However, this time Kiyoka was not in the library to fool around. Finals were coming up and let's just say...the short haired girl's grades were not the most stellar, and though she did have a part of Sarah's study group, honestly she never did anything but slack around and eat snacks, rarely getting any actual studying done. Realistically if she wanted to have any chance of improving her grades and having a shot at passing finals, she needed to work harder. So she found herself a tutor.

He was some kid in 3-A, an upperclassman who walked, talked, and seemed to breathe studying. Kiyoka thought he smelled like old musty books, too-- as if he he never left the library other than to attend class. She wouldn't know because she didn't know him, all she saw was an ad for tutoring and took the chance. And boy did she regret it. He spoke to her like she was an idiot, very slowly and holding himself high and mighty as if he were better than her. She hated it. Sitting in the library, he continuously talked her ear off while she ignored him, taking her time to stare at the students filtering in and out of the doors. Her interest piqued when she saw Rin enter, seating herself at a large table. Then Nanjou, sitting at the same one. The tutor belittled her for not understanding concepts. Kiyoka couldn't take it anymore, and so she did the only thing any sane person would do. She blew up at him, and stormed off.

She left the flabbergasted fool behind, because served him right for being a dick, and headed right for Rin, sliding into the chair next to her. She must've shared the same idea, ditching Sarah's study group to attempt to get some more serious studying done, but if they were both being honest, they'd probably only be getting the bare minimum in. Kiyoka glanced at Rin, watching her mess with her phone. "Guess we're fucked then."

Attention going over to Demi, quiet Demi studying quietly by herself, a lighbulb went off in her head. She leaned forward eagerly. Quiet girls were smart, right? Excluding Rin, of course. "Nanjou, hey! Wanna help us out?" If that third year idiot wasn't going to be of assistance, then someone else might.

She was in mid-tweet when her ears twitched at the familiar voice yelling a short distance away. Her attention quickly turned to the scene of Kiyoka yelling at what looked to be a tutor. Once she saw the girl get up from her chair, she cocked her head to the side. As expected, the feisty second-year was bee-lining it straight towards her. With a look of unamusement on her face, Rin continued to fiddle with the phone in hand. 

“Probably..” She agreed that they were most likely fucked when it came to the finals.. or at least she (as in Rin herself) would be. For knowing ahead of time that she would most likely fail, Rin was surprisingly unnerved by it. Only a small bit in the back of her head stressed on the situation, but most of her didn’t care.  It was honestly the same strategy every test. She attempted to look over what teachers attempted to teach, and she would manage to retain just enough to not completely bomb whatever test came her way. That being said, her grades were slowly getting worse as each month went by, and with this final she predicted total failure. 

She didn’t notice the long-haired girl until Kiyoka had called her out, and by name too. Her eyes immediately searched for the pins to discover that she was a second year, same as Kiyoka. She only nodded slightly at the girl, wondering if she would join the doom which was Kiyoka and her attempting to study. 

[Demi]

She quickly penciled in questions and answers, her pencil movements fluid and at a decent pace. She heard a kind of familiar voice yelling across the library and was surprised the librarian didn't come down on Piyo like a hawk. Her pencil stilled slightly as Kiyoka made her way over and plopped down next to the other girl at the table near her. She tried to keep her eyes to herself, her head down, hair surrounding and hiding her as she wrote question after question and answer after answer. But alas, she wouldn't be left alone. Kiyoka was beginning to remind Demi of her would-be self, her guardian character... very loud and friendly.

She glanced up and over to Kiyoka. "Not really, but I can if you need it..." Sounded like she did, too, based on the way she was arguing with the tutor over there. Then again, that third year seemed like a bit of a pompous prick, so... it was probably pretty fair that Kiyoka was annoyed at him. "What subject do you need to study for?" She set her pencil down and... the sound of it roused Encore. Oh lord, no.

The little guardian character popped up from Demi's bag, long blonde hair all over in her face, a total mess. It's obvious that she had just woken up. "Good morning!" She piped up, yawning and pushing hair out of her face. How could this be Demi's would be self? She's so... so lazy! And friendly, and-- everything Demi wasn't. She quietly just... reached to her bag and pushed her guardian character into the bag rather unceremoniously. A muffled angry sounding squeak is heard from the bag at the same time. R.I.P. Encore. You were a good guardian character. While you lasted. Which wasn't long.
