Yasuko's eye twitched.
Looking out from the window, she could see thick black clouds looming overhead, darkening the once sunny blue sky. Lightning flashed, illuminating the underside of the clouds, before being quickly followed by the booming sounds of thunder. Rain pelted down hard, causing a gray mist to form over the rooftops, the rain falling down so heavily that the water was spraying back upwards like a fog. The raindrops were hitting the window furiously, as if there were a battalion of mini droplet soldiers trying to cause a break in the glass pane. Yet the glass stood unbroken, and was simply cold to her touch. The corridor was dark - no amount of sunlight would get through such thick clouds, and the artificial lights had quickly fizzled out the moment the thundering rain started.
Yasuko sighed, her head thumping against the cold glass in defeat.
This has got to be a record now.
"Yasuko!" a tiny voice chirped, big blue eyes sparkling at her owner. Her hands were holding up a scroll, watching the shadows cast by the raindrops dance on it, squealing as the flashes of lightning intensified the shadows for just that moment. "Look at the patterns it made on the scroll!" The small Guardian Character said as she pointed excitedly at the parchment. It was the second time she had been caught in a storm, but it didn't mean she wasn't any more fascinated by it then she was the first time. No matter how similar the two events were, she always found something different in each experience - and always found something to be excited by. "Isn't it amazing?"
The first-year sighed again, before turning back to the small fairy standing on the windowstill. Honestly, when did she even whip out that scroll in that short of a time? "It's great that you're finding this a fabulous experience, but don't you think being caught in the storm the first time was good enough?" It was clear Yasuko was being terribly sarcastic - this was the third time she had been stuck at school because of heavy rain. Was she cursed or something? Not that she believed in such things, but still.
Her Guardian Character however, seemed unperturbed as she beamed at the first-year. "Nope!" she said, her eyes sparkling. "Even if it happened before, it doesn't mean that you won't find anything new! Like even if you attended a music concert the first time, that doesn't mean the second time is ever going to be completely the same!"
"I don't think that's a proper analogy..."
The first-year sighed again, before hefting the bag on her shoulder. It seems whenever she had intended to stay back a little longer, she would get caught in a storm. She just wanted to ask the teacher some questions about homework - and she had to be punished with heavy rain and thundering clouds.
Honestly really.
"Look, let's just...find a classroom with some good lighting. I could do some homework while waiting for the rain to go off." Without waiting for her Guardian Character, she had already started walking off. "Ah, wait Yasuko...!" Calli hastily stashed her scroll away, before flying after the first-year.
