The morning had been relatively tamed with all things considered. No egg activity, no rumours or students in hospital; everything almost seemed normal, if the second year didn't know any better. Homeroom with Saito-sensei had been a pleasant way to start the morning like always and the lull into math class was comforting too.
It was during the particular break, after math had ended and the class was waiting for the arrival of the history teacher, did the phone in Ji-Soo’s back pocket give a quiet 'chirp'. Oh, a twitter message, he thought happily. The ringtone notifications on the teen’s phone had all been carefully modified so he would know what it was right away. The constant use of twitter at this school had done wonders for the mute boy's mood overall. For once, he could be as loud as any other person on the social media site and it was liberating to say the least.
Checking his phone quickly, Ji-Soo realized that it was it a message from Daichi! He looked up to give the second year who sat across the classroom a smile. “Do you want to hang out today?” it read. Typing back a quick “I have some club stuff, but after that?”, Ji-Soo received a reply not even a few seconds later. “Sure.” With a smile, he put his phone back in his pocket while the class stood to greet the teacher. Daichi was always great company to have, a very attentive and not to mention a great class note passer.
-------
The moment the final bell had rung, Ji-Soo had booked it to the teacher’s office to get the Archery Club’s training camp forms from the advisor before hurrying back to the classroom. He had been looking forward to hanging out with his classmate all day, the enthusiasm fueling his sprints. Maybe a bit too enthusiastic though as the Korean was bent over trying to catch his breath in the door way. Unlike the usual jump hugs, the only greeting Daichi received this time was a weakly raised, limp hand.
