[AQ] Cat in the Bag [Felix/Kazuki]

Kazuki considered himself to be a star member of the community.  Ever since he was born he was thrown into volunteer work by his parents, helping with everything from cleaning the neighbor's yard to feeding the homeless at the local food shelter.  He didn't mind the work as much as one would think and continued volunteering up through middle school.  Upon arriving to Seiyo, his work was put on hold.  There was just so much he had to do to catch up with classes and fellow students, especially transferring in a month after the year had actually began.  It drove him absolutely mad to see those less fortunate than him gather around in the alleyways and under bridges.

Finally, finally after what seemed like ages he got his life back on track.  With his grades steadily rising and his relationships with his classmates thriving, Kazuki finally had a chance to go back out doing what he loved.  Running out of school right after the bell rang, the young man rushed down to Downtown Otonoki to look for some helpless citizens in need.

Now he stood on the corner, staring at a missing pet poster hanging from one of the street poles.  It seemed to be a cute tabby cat, probably only a few years old with a white bow tied around its neck.  A 'Ms. Tanaka' was looking for the animal, and if Kazuki had to guess it was probably not far from here.  Now all he had to do was find the creature and return him, and his good deed for the day would be done.

It seems someone has lost their precious 'President McRuffles' and is offering a reward for his prompt return! Mr. President's owner, Ms. Tanaka says you might have some luck if you try searching the park with a can of salmon...From his pictures he's a fairly fat cat...

+ Try to pass off some other fat cat as President McRuffles and claim the reward: -1 Faberge, +2 Roost

    It wasn't like Felix didn't like doing things for people, no no, it was a lot more like, if he didn't do the errand after hearing their story he felt terrible for not doing it; Felix was very easy to guilt into doing things. It could be any little thing really, plus it wasn't like he didn't love getting the praise of finishing the task. The brunette hated feeling selfish over things like that but it was almost to the point that any attention was something he thrived on and needed in an everyday basis, despite feeling so awkward about himself normally. He had always been a bit of a sucker, but that is the main reason Isaac was brought to this world in the first place.

    Even though that very Isaac had tried to talk the boy out of finding this seemly missing cat, Felix just couldn't help himself from wanting to save the poor thing. He loved animals too much to think of 'President McRuffles' out lingering in the cold all alone; there was a lot the guardian could talk his student out of but this unfortunately was not one of those times, "We have to help, I mean, look at him! He clearly is an indoor cat... what if he gets hurt?" Felix was not having any no's and Isaac just nodded an exhausted 'okay' as the two began their quest. 

    The first thing Felix decided was to first grab a can of salmon as suggested, leading the duo to Downtown Otonoki's shopping district. As they were walking out of store and making their way to a corner to cross the street, Felix noticed a student he never seen before. Getting closer to him, the brunette noticed they were from the same school -- but to top it all off, he was looking at missing posters of President McRuffles! How lucky!

    A burst of excitement shot through Felix and he gently placed his hand on the other students shoulder, face practically beaming, "Oh! Are you looking for the cat, too?!" He was extremely excited but immediately pulled his hand away after realising he touched him without even noticing he did so, "A-Ah, I'm so sorry! It's just really important, I'm sorry if you're not- I just assumed because your looking at the poster and -- uhmm yeah but if you are I am too!... I just bought a tin of salmon actually..." The brunette stopped his rambling with awkward laughter, glancing away.

Kazuki jumped ever so slightly at the touch of the other, looking quite startled by the physical contact.  He wasn't used to people touching him outside of his own family, especially fellow classmates and such.  He was always such a loner in school that he never had the chance to grow close to others.  Still, his momentary surprise subsided as he slowly turned around to study the boy.  From his uniform and the pins crossed over his sweater he seemed to be a second year student at Seiyo.  He was the same as Kazuki then... and he was looking for the cat too?  Could it be that this boy was his next victim?  Or perhaps on a darker note, his next ally?  The other seemed to be timid but caring so perhaps he was indeed a chosen one.

Then again he shouldn't jump to conclusions so quick.  There were many at this school that helped out of the goodness of their hearts but revealed a much more disgusting side later on.  Even if the boy seemed to have pure intentions now it didn't mean much.  For all Kazuki knew it could even be a sinister ruse to gain the reward from the old lady.  With this in mind he plastered on his endearing smile and bowed politely to the boy.

"It's no problem at all.  I actually just stumbled upon this poster and thought I'd take a look.  I hadn't heard of any missing cats in the area but from the look of it the poor thing has been missing for a few days.  I do hope nothing has happened to it," At the sight of the salmon Kazuki brightened up even more, clapping his hands together, "Fish!  What a good idea, I hadn't even thought to go and buy some."

This boy was showing some promise.  Extending a hand towards the other, the student cocked his head to the side.  "Mori Kazuki, second year at Seiyo.  Would you like to go on an adventure with me?  To find the cat, of course.  I think we could find it even faster if we worked together.""

[Felix]

    He wasn't expecting this random excited interaction to go so well, maybe his hopes for failure were just too high, but he wasn't getting yelled at and the guy accepted him; to Felix this was almost a miracle in the working, "Yeah! When I heard the story from Ms. Tanaka I almost started crying- I couldn't imagine losing my pet outside, I wouldn't know what to do..." The brunette clasped his book-bag straps with a delighted smile that this guy seemed like he would actually help him. For a minute he thought maybe it was too good to be true and doubted himself, but when the redhead looked just as happy as he had been, he started to instantly put trust in him,

    "S-She told me it would be the easiest way to find him so I came down here to buy it... a-and I also got a small cat toy, though I don't know if it would be of any use..." Felix took out the toy from his bag and waved it back and forth a little, seeming to be a little embarrassed from the silly expression on his face as he did so. The brunette jumped a little from the others hand in front of him, he was unfocused as he played with the toy and actually dropped the thing when he was alerted, "A-Ah- damn.." Quickly bending over to pick up the toy he awkwardly grabbed Kazuki's hand and shook it slightly, grip weak, obvious he wasn't comfortable with handshakes,

    "I-I'm Felix- White... Felix, but uhh Felix is just easier... I'm also a second year!" Smiling as earnestly as possible, he let go of the redhead's hand to play with his own hair, "Yeah, I would love to! B-But where to first..." As he thought of a place he ended up putting the toy and salmon in his bag for later so he didn't have to carry it around.

Kazuki was actually pretty impressed by this guy. Even though he'd just learned about the cat as well, he'd already been talking to the owner and managed to pick up some search-worthy items. This encounter was turning out better and better than he had expected. There were so many selfish people at Seiyo, so many individuals he knew were a waste of his time. At the other's limp handshake, he merely smiled brighter. Well, at least he knew he wasn't a threat. This guy didn't seem like he could hurt a fly.

"Nice to meet you, Felix," he said, wondering if the other's hair color was natural. His own hair was starting to die at the tips from how much product he'd put in it. He could only imagine how his sister's hair was faring. "The cat couldn't have wandered far, so it must still be in the area. If I had to guess, it'd either be up in a tree or... with food!" It had to be somewhere there was food or it would end up dead.

"Maybe the fish market? Is there one nearby? I'm kind of new to the area, I haven't really been around much. Or the park I would say, possibly up a tree. I have a feeling we'll be able to lure it down quite easily though with that can," This was a true adventure, a testimony of man versus wild! Mori Kazuki was on the case, and he wouldn't back down until the cat was found.

[Felix]

    After Kazuki started to talk to him normally, he found himself relaxing just a bit more; just the first few introductions is usually what put him so on edge in the beginning, "Ahh, your right!" Felix's face brightened before he thought a little bit, "... well maybe not up a tree, the cat is pretty fat." a chuckle escaped his lips at the thought,

    "New to the area? Well... I'm not too good with the area either, if I had to be honest..." The brunette paused for a minute, "... A fish market would be really useful but I don't we have an outdoor one... I don't think he would be able to smell it?" He was more thinking out-loud then to the other boy directly, "The park would be a good choice too, I think Ms. Tanaka was mentioning it but I don't remember very well; looking around here in alleys might be smart!" Felix looked at Kazuki with a smile.

    It was safe to say he was happy to have a friend with him on the hunt to find the poor kitty; Felix always found himself in weird positions or in some kind of danger so having help would keep him on track.

[Kazuki]

"There's no outside fish market around here? Lame, it's always best to support the local businesses," Kazuki seemed somewhat disappointed by the lack of basic amenities in the area, though it was understandable. The school wasn't exactly close to the ocean after all and they couldn't ship fish here only to leave it out all day.

As they walked he called out the cat's name, cupping his hand to project his voice. A few people who passed them gave them strange looks, clearly confused by seeing a foreigner and what looked like a delinquent walking side by side.

"Are you living on-campus as well?" Kazuki finally asked, interested in the boy's background. They'd passed by several alleys and so far all of the cats they'd found had been strays. He was starting to wonder if the food would even help with finding the missing kitty with so many others around, "Since you mentioned you're not used to the area, I figure you must be boarding or something."

[Felix]

    "A-Ah well there might be somewhere! I never just had a chance to really look all around the area, especially with no vehicle..." Felix mentioned to Kazuki quickly since he seemed rather upset by it, "I agree though, I used to live out of town and fresh, local stuff is the best!" He kept chipper before they started to really roam around and search for this cat.

    At the time, with Kazuki doing the same thing, shouting for the cat wasn't anything he was really embarrassed about. He was much more worried about putting his full effort into searching for the poor cat and he felt confident now that the other student was feeling the same as him. After some looking around he was caught off guard by the simple question,

    "Oh um, yes! I am." Felix smiled gently at the question, "Sometimes I go visit home, but right now I'm here to stay -- in the dorms, any ways." He was a little awkward but he got it out, "And your living on the dorms, too? You said your new... how long have you been here?"

Kazuki brightened up when the other said he was an exchange student, looking at the boy with complete wonder. He had always wanted to travel but his parents rarely took them out of the country. They preferred to stay local to keep close to the temple and to the community. Even so, it left Kazuki feeling restless, especially when he saw how amazing the outside world was.

"Oh, I only arrived a couple weeks ago. My family isn't far from here though, just a few hours south. My parents thought it would be good to 'get me out of the house' or something," he laughed when he said that as though the idea was completely absurd to him, "You should stop by some time. I don't have a roommate yet, so it's pretty empty most of the day---"

As he spoke, there was a loud clang from the alleyway next to them. Kazuki stopped to peek back around the corner, spotting a white bow pulling at the edge of a trash can. The edges were slightly frayed but it held on even as the noise continued. Unable to see whether or not the accessory belonged to the right cat, Kazuki approached slowly, motioning for Felix to follow. With any luck it would be President McRuffles and they could catch it without any trouble.
