Standing in front of the library with her Guardian Character floating next to her, Yasuko stared at its large doors, gripping her schoolbag tightly. It had been a while since she had found the eggs out on the school corridor. At Calli's encouragement, she had followed them, wondering where exactly they would lead her. And they had certainly lead her alright - all over the school in fact. Some of them seemed to have been made by someone else; but those which had some sort of similar aesthetic always had a star underneath them. She didn't know what it was, but it was possible it might have been some sort of marking, or perhaps even an artist's signature. She didn't recognise such a signature though but then again, she didn't know many local artists to begin with. And besides, considering where they were, she supposed the artist was most likely just someone at school. But who...?
She eventually found a large collection of those eggs - in a, what perhaps, a sense of dark irony - at the back of the library. She had trouble going in at first; it was difficult to shake off of what had happened there, but she did eventually, after noticing that there were still students - functioning, healthy students - roaming around in the place. Calli told her that even if there weren't any, the both of them would definitely sense it if something was up - "Which there wasn't!" Calli quipped happily - making her a bit more bold in her investigations. But as she looked around the back of the library, she noticed many other locked doors (Had they been there before, she wondered? Then again, she had never been at the children's section before, so it made sense that she wouldn't have noticed it anyway). Peering into windows, she could see many more of these eggs - and in that moment, Calli had tried the knob on the door but had found it locked. She hadn't been back at the library since then, having no idea how to get into the locked door. In fact, she had avoided the library again for a good while, because the X-eggs had returned once more to haunt them all.
Until she remembered that a teacher had given her a Seiyo Key Card.
Staring at the shiny card in her hands, she quickly looked around. She had purposely come to the library a little later than usual, so as to escape the after school crowd of students that tended to hang around to grab a book to study or to borrow for light reading. But, instead of going straight into the library - and certainly Calli was edging her on - she was standing outside, pondering, as her eyes stayed fixed to the card.
She wasn't sure why she was doing this exactly. One part of it was certainly because Calli kept telling her that there was always a chance it would lead to a good ending, but why even after she found the door locked, why did she come back to investigate more anyway? After not once but twice she had ran into X-eggs, shouldn't she had enough already? Shouldn't she just go home and live her high school life just the way it is? Simple and easy. Did she need to get herself even deeper into this whole thing?
"You’ll be seen as a coward who is weak to protect what she could’ve protected. Someone from becoming corrupted."
She gripped the card tightly. That blonde bastard...! That stupidly tall blonde jerk that wouldn't let her escape the area when she wanted to! And told her that she was weak! The nerve of him! She was not weak and she was not a coward...! Wasn't she? She knew she had attempted to run; she knew she was frightened and afraid; she knew she had, for that moment, been a coward. Almost immediately she grasped the cool library handles, shoving them open as if trying to show that she wasn't as powerless as the guy said she was.
"Will you let your friend falter?”
Friend? Yasuko wasn't sure if Minji was her friend or not, but was she okay with the idea of people falling under the same corruption she had? Was she okay with knowing that the same people in front of her - the ones that had fought and had saved her - could potentially be overwhelmed and overpowered just like she was? Honestly she didn't know, but his words stung like hell. Walking into the library, she quickly disappeared into the dark corners of the shelves so as not to try to draw the librarian's attention to her. Calli was right behind her, flying closely so as not to be left behind. Her key card had been stowed away in her pocket before she entered; she would rather not try to explain to someone of authority how in the world - or whom - she had gotten it from.
"Prove that you won’t let anyone fall under."
And I'll prove it to you, damn right...! Yasuko thought as she stood in front of the locked door. Though prove what exactly? Prove that no one else would be able to become corrupted while she was around? Did she want to have that responsibility? Did she want to be that kind of person for everyone around her? She was someone who mostly cared about her own independence and her own responsibilities; had she ever thought about her own duties to someone else? To some higher cause?
Honestly, she didn't know the answer to that question. But somehow, making the decision to come here, to find her own answers, to see what kind of "ending" she could get from all of this investigation - that made her feel powerful, in control. She may not be in total control of her life when it came to all these eggs and Guardian Characters thing, but at least at this one thing - this one decision that she had made - she could feel in control. Taking one last look around to make sure that no one else was looking, she lightly tapped the key card onto the lock. As the sensors bleeped green, she slowly opened the door.
What was inside...?
