♧ THE PARK
Otonoki's local park is located just down the town's main street; established only within the past decade or so, it stands as a beacon of pride for the community members who worked so hard to bring it to what it is today. Spanning for several blocks in all directions, the park surrounds a large central lake, with pathways leading all around the circumference, accompanied by picnic tables, benches, lights, well-kept gardens, and large amounts of broad, shade-bearing trees.
The lake is deep enough for swimming, fishing, and boating during the warmer seasons, but doesn't quite freeze over in the winter and is advised to be approached with caution in cold temperatures. The freshwater is kept moderately clean, and volunteer groups can often be found clearing trash and other debris from it in the summer.
There are two pavilion areas with picnic tables and small stages and sound systems for events, which can be reserved ahead of time or used whenever cleared. The town's festivals usually reserve these areas for setting up stalls near, lining the grassy areas on all sides with tents and vendors.
A play area for kids is found at the far end of the lake, with a full playground structure in creative curves and good aesthetic, equipped with slides of various heights, games, a small climbing wall, and monkey bars. Swings and geometric climbable sculptures can also be found nearby, in addition to some extra tables by an open sports field, and a blacktop area with basketball hoops, tether ball pole, and some pre-painted hopscotch lines of various difficulty in the shapes of cute animals.
The rest of the park is mainly open and scenic, with some slight sloping hills and shady areas under trees and grass that's kept always kept properly mowed. These areas are popular in the spring when the trees bloom in a variety of colors, and are seen as a romantic spot to many.
