♤ THE AOSAKA ARCADE
The Aosaka Arcade (青坂アーケード), often shortened to just AA, is a family-run arcade in Otonoki's downtown area. Opened in the late 80's, it's always stayed a very down-to-earth and laid back environment that's been favorable to young people of all kind. The token afterschool hangout location for most of those students attending Seiyo Academy, it's located only a few blocks away from the campus, and its current owner is also an alumni of the school.
Toward the front are all the prize-giving machines, and in the back areas are all of the more game-focused machines, ranging a variety of genres and gameplay styles from shooters to fighting games to platformers to dance machines to classic arcade titles. The arcade is proud to home a few original machines from the 70's, which are kept in pristine condition, even with their extensive use. It also has a number of very modern machines, which are connected to the internet for patrons to log into and play under a personal account. All games only accept coins, though, but there's a number of machines about to convert bills.
The arcade is open from 9AM - 10PM; its rules are incredibly laid-back, and its main guideline (and the only one strictly enforced) is not to harass the machines or try to cheat them. Others are simple common courtesy rules such as not to leave personal belongings on machines, not to hog games, to keep from vandalizing, and to clean up after oneself. Despite the arcade's relaxed nature, the owner will have no problem coming down on frequent rule breakers. The owner also doesn't allow any students to remain after curfew or allows any students on the grounds during school hours, as he's very gung-ho about all of his patrons getting their proper education and keeping out of trouble (though some exceptions are often made...).
The AA is also homebase to the members of The Roost; a neglected photo booth in the main area's back corner that, when a Roost keychain is flashed by it, reveals a fake wall that heads into a common room with couches and tables and a few additional games for those Roost members who like to hang out and discuss.
