✦ DOWNTOWN OTONOKI
Found in a small prefecture of the Chūbu region, Otonoki is a moderately-sized town with a population of about 32,000. Founded for its convenient placing in a zone of moderate climate and height, it is one of the safer areas from natural disasters, though it has no other notable aspects to speak of.
Its buildings in the more commercial areas are tall and tightly-packed, homing many branches for businesses of small to medium-large standing, and employing a large number of office workers across all of them. From its main street, which contains a bit of everything, it branches off into districts of shopping, business, and entertainment before beginning to phase out into the suburbs, which make up most of the town.
The shopping district is large, but average; there are a wide variety of stores, though most are more general in nature and very few are specialized or found of specific brand names (but there are a few). A large variety of restaurants, cafes, and food stalls are dotted throughout the area, offering all kinds of cuisine from local delicacies, to foreign food, to specialized cafes, to chocolate and candy shops. Most are more humble in nature, with a few upscale experiences here and there.
The business district is where most companies are situated; while not much is of interest for the average patron, most of the town's operations and manufacturing is found here, as well as such things as insurance companies, attorneys, accounting agencies, banks, etc.. Otonoki's local (and only) university is also found here.
The entertainment district is Otonoki's main draw; housing the original branch of Faberge Entertainment, it is popular among tourists and those families with kids interested in any kind of entertainment medium. There are also two other news stations, a publishing house, sports facilities, and a large arena found in the area, which are always buzzing with goings-on. Hotels of all range of quality are found here, with most tourists coming just to see shows or sporting events.
The suburban district is where the majority of the population lives, and there are general stores, drug stores, and a few restaurants here and there within it; at both ends of the district are high schools, with more middle and elementary schools located between. There is a major split in the general wealth, with the richer closer toward the center of town, and those of moderate or little wealth the farther toward the edge of town one goes. Most houses and apartment complexes are neither old nor modern, and variate in a range of styles from traditional Japanese architecture to the more western-style, leaving a variety of options for residents when they look to buy a house or apartment.
Otonoki is proud to host the OR line, which is a local rail system that goes from one end of the town to another, as well as branching off toward surrounding towns and meeting up nearby those towns that have rail systems going into the city (thus, to get to a city, one must take at least two trains).
