Elijah (Eli)

Rumors have been buzzing hard about an odd flying object rushing over heads at the park downtown! A delicious opportunity like this was usually cause for great excitement for Keiko, especially how the commotion gave for lots of opportunities to get wrapped up in someone else’s business. It made utterly perfect sense why she would be there at the park instead of pouring herself over her textbooks instead, but that was not the reason she was waiting there at the park at all. In fact, she was looking forward to an outright brawl.

Standing with her legs part and her arms crossed over her chest, she almost looked as imposing as she did ridiculous, more or less waiting for this “Elijah” character to show up at any time. It did not even register in her mind for a moment that he might actually bail out on her entirely- she personally felt as if a 500 yen coin was more than enough reason to crawl out from the confines of the school campus for a little bit of a fight.

Said coin balanced between her fingers and pressed against her forearm. She stood like this for at least a solid ten minutes- until, ultimately, she got a little impatient and began tweeting her newfound rival through twitter.

He nearly forgot about her existence until she tweeted at him just then. Elijah was minding his own business with some cute dogs on his feed- but when she came up, he couldn't help but laugh. Was this girl serious? He was only teasing her. Shoving his phone into his pocket and putting away his earplugs, he blissfully walked in the direction of the park, looking for her. It wasn't too difficult seeing as how their uniforms stuck out from a crowd. Elijah quietly contemplated if she was serious about a fist fight.

Spotting her long raven hair, he squinted from his distance. She was quite tall and was she wearing...heels? Pulling his head back in disgust, he stuck out his tongue and expressed disgust. A girl who's already tall and wearing heels looked like a menace. Why couldn't guys wear heels too!? Huffing, he stepped up towards her in his five foot five glory, hands in his pockets and keen eyes (contrary to a warm heart).

"Keiko, right. You're rude."

He added in a boyish grin, eyeing the coin between her fingers. "I believe this is now mine~" He reached forward, attempting to grab it...

This saunter of an approach was worthy of a raised lip in irritation. She wasn’t sure what to expect out of Elijah, but as the soft head of brown hair came slowly striding toward her she couldn’t help but think of another smaller man with a similar head of brown hair. His hands were even in his pockets and everything- something about his stature already left a sour taste in her mouth, to the point by the time he approached her and gave his spiel she was already puckering her lips disapprovingly.

“Am I rude, now? A rude person wouldn’t just hand you this, you know?”

This being the coin that she had quickly pulled far away from Eli, and raised it as high as she could in the air. Her face seemed to tear in half as she showed off her practiced-perfect Mori Smile™.

To rub it even further in, it seemed that this was the sort of thing that entertained her, to the point she was willing to stand on her tiptoes in heels just to keep the yen coin away from her new “friend.” “You did say it, though. Come and get it.”

Anyone could see it in his face, that instant snap of annoyance. Eyes more narrowed, cheeks a bit flushed. He didn't jump for the money right away, however, and stood there staring at her with a bit of contempt. "Hey, at least I showed up, right?" Inwardly, he tried to make a joke out of it. The last thing he'd want to do is fantasize hitting a girl and upset his mother. Her smile was a little disheartening as he could feel it being more of a sneer....

Licking his teeth, he quickly moved into his form with his fists up and very quickly. Eyeing the piece carefully and considering the joke she'd made about beating someone up to get this money... well, not that he believed it, but it was telling. He pushed himself out of his stance and closed his eyes, fuming a bit.

"It's fine. Keep it. I was honestly just teasing you." While he couldn't make hard assumptions on it, he had an inkling about her. "You can call me Elijah, or Eli, by the way. In case you didn't already know from twitter." Hands in his pockets again, his expression relaxed.

He was mad. Anyone could plainly see it, and Keiko was no exception to the broad term. She had every advantage here and she knew it; she was a girl, she was tall, and she wasn’t exactly helpless either, so as her eyes caught the motion of his fist clenching, she already was formulating six different ways she could dodge out of way- what she did not expect in the least, though, was for his narrowed eyes to peel away from her and his whole stature more or less relax into something more neutral. Her eyes widened like discs for a moment in surprise, but after that even she sunk down back into her heels and lowered her arm back to her side, carefully observing him now that her expectations were made wrong.

He was being nice? Her sinister persona faltered before disappearing completely, now replaced with almost a blank expression as he introduced himself to her properly and told her what she knew already- that he was teasing. His tense expression relaxed then as well, and she couldn’t help but sigh deeply at the grand climax of her instigated fight: nothing at all. After placing the yen coin in the palm of her hand she reached out towards Eli, with a now more cutesy smile.

“I know you were just teasing,” she giggled a bit like she just wasn’t degrading Eli moments before, “So was I.” Continuing to hold out her hand in what could either be a coin pass or a handshake, or possibly both, she added at the end. “Mister Elijah, is it? You may call me Mori-senpai, it’s a pleasure to meet you!”

He'd gotten slapped around by girls before for saying the wrong things. And honestly, he didn't really know the right thing to say or do to them other than be as genuine as possible. Elijah had expected the tall girl to beat him up and potential humiliation. Thankfully, he did not have that kind of pride and thought there were other bigger problems in the world. Much to his surprise, she turned a different face to him. Swallowing nervously, he <i>seriously</i> didn't know what to expect of her.

That mischievous smile was done away with and replaced by a friendly, good natured one. So, they really were on the same page from the beginning. In truth, he had his hand gripping at the fabric inside his pockets to express his tenseness. The cute smile had really caught him off guard. "Oh, haha." Smiling back at her a little awkwardly because she was too damn tall, "Eli, or Elijah will do!" His energy was being better used now for his jovial side, "Nice to meet you too, Mori-senpai! So what's the deal- did you really come out here to fight me? Because I heard a couple rumors... about... this park, in particular."

He'd been reading too many paranormal articles on his daily commute to school.
