○ GENERAL
✭ Registration to the forum is limited to open-HEARTS members only, but every member of the group should register on the forum. You can register with whatever username you like; however, we encourage that your display name be the name of your character! You can change your display name by going to your profile --> Edit Profile --> Personal tab.
✭ All of the rules and guidelines that apply to the group also apply to the forum.
✭ Your account on the forum is where all of your information is kept track of! Instead of using a spreadsheet or etc, we keep track of your earnings using your forum account. When you submit to the dA group, we'll credit your Student Tokens to your account here! You'll receive a notification on the forum when this happens, as well. You can also earn more yourself by rping on the forum! The more you rp, the more you'll earn; higher word counts in posts also reward with more.
✭ AP and leveling are also kept track of on the forum! Check out this board for more information.
✭ Because we keep track of all your character's statistics on the forum, if you are able to make another character, please make a separate account for them! For convenience, you can register with the same email you used, which will allow you to switch accounts very quickly using the button in the bottom right-hand corner of the page.
✭ You are by no means required to rp on the forum! Even though we're using it to keep track of things, we only offer it as a platform for rp if you'd like to use it. You're more than welcome to rp elsewhere, be it through the dA chat, skype, notes, LINE, whatever. If you'd still like to claim Tokens for these logs, though, you can! (to do so, see this thread)
✭ It is strongly encouraged, however, that you link your character sheet in your signature! You can edit your signature from Profile --> Edit Profile --> Personal. The code for liking is [ a href="link" ]name[ /a ] without the spaces. You can also have an image signature! Just try to keep your total signature height under 400px.
✭ If a board has stickied threads at the top of their thread list, they probably contain important information about the board! It'd be a good idea to read them. There are a lot of them around, but you don't have to read them all at once. For the most part, everything's optional for you to take part in, so you can take as much time as you need to get familiar with things.
✭ In keeping with the Proboards Terms of Service, please keep all content here PG-13 (IC and OOC). Anything above that should either fade to black, or be taken elsewhere.
✭ Proboards uses a type of coding called UBBC, which is very similar to HTML, except it uses [ and ] instead of < and >. It also accepts CSS styles! You can find a guide with most of the available UBBC codes here.
✭ Note that if you like to use the BBC editor, be careful using the Preview editor as an actual preview! It may break code.
○ ROLEPLAYING ON THE FORUM
✭ The forum, in all IC areas, requires a minimum of 50 words per post--this is so that you can get tokens by posting! You get 30 tokens for every 100 words in your post, up to 2000 words. The forum both counts words and administers tokens automatically!
✭ You'll find that threads here come in several forms! It's not as complicated as it looks; threads are just labeled by type for clarity.
- OPEN threads are threads are free for anyone to join! Just post a starter. They can be compared to when someone starts an rp in a group chat and invites everyone who wants to rp to join in. If you're wary of having too many people, you can set a limit on the number of people who can hop in. They're a great way for meeting other characters! They're usually indicated by [OPEN] being somewhere in the title. (Ex, an open thread name might look like "Between Classes [OPEN]")
- PRIVATE threads are ones where the participants are already decided; they're a more common thread type. They're for when you and someone else (or multiple people) already know you want to rp! They're usually indicated by the other character's name being in the title. (Ex, a thread with Keiko and Juon might be posted by Juon, with the title being "Can you not [Keiko]")
- AQ threads are those where an AQ is being fulfilled. They can be open or private; that's up to you! AQ threads are indicated by [AQ] being found in the title. (Ex, a AQ thread title might look like "[AQ] Sneaking into Faberge [Juon]") These threads should also have the AQ being done listed in the opening post.
- MODDED threads are those that call for an X-Mod to play an NPC--in most cases, X-eggs or X-characters. The X-Mod will become a member of your thread, playing this NPC similarly to the way a Game Master plays the NPCs in a tabletop game like D&D. Only AQs can call for a mod (you'll know if it calls for one, as it'll state it in the AQ description), but these threads can also be open or closed. You can even have modded threads where you are the only other participant! Modded threads need to be indicated by [MOD] being somewhere in the title. (Ex: A thread title might look like [AQ/MOD] A Late Night Fight [Daichi]") If an X-mod hasn't replied to your thread in five days, send it to Please Post!
✭ Outside of these, you're free to format your thread titles however you like! The same goes for posts.
✭ When a thread is completed, the person who made the thread is encouraged to edit [DONE] into the title!
✭ If you join an open thread, be sure to keep an eye on it, in case others are waiting for you!
✭ Please avoid double posting anywhere IC.
✭ It's okay if you want to set a thread in a past date! Just make sure it's indicated somewhere in the thread.
✭ You can have as many threads going at once as you can handle; it's also fine if they're in the same location.
✭ OOC talk in IC posts is totally fine! Just try to keep it minimal, and make sure you can tell what's IC and what's OOC.
✭ If you'd like to include art in posts, you're more than welcome!
