Mitsuo only stared at the girl in a perplexed manner, blinking slowly. "O-Oh," he said, clearly confused, tilting his head to the side as his eyebrows furrowed further. That was her...joking? Admittedly he hadn't taken it for a joke, and he was still remained as puzzled as ever. Which part of it was a joke? Or was it a jest or a tease? He really didn't know. "I-I see," was his still perplexed reply, nodding a few times at the girl's words. To be honest, he was still a little caught by the joke-but-not-registering-as-a-joke. But he shook his head a little; he really shouldn't be so easily distracted like that. "I can tell," was his immediate response, grinning back at the girl. But his expression dropped the moment she said that last sentence, and it was clear he hadn't a clue how to respond to it. "U-uh-huh," he started. Did this girl have high pain tolerance or something like that?
But at the other girl's words, the freckled boy suddenly paused, his hand lowering the chopsticks. Oh. Oh. He had done it again, hadn't he? He had done this before - when he first met Ai. He had expressed surprise that the long-haired boy was in 2-B, and had quipped that he hadn't taken him for being in one of the higher classes. Which he had only realised much later how goddamn rude that was. He retracted his hand, his eyebrows furrowing, as he stared at the bento box on the table. Wasn't this the same as people judging him for his schizophrenia? Wasn't he doing the exact same thing as everyone else in his old high school had done to him? "Ah, yeah," he gave a bit of a sheepish smile, though it was relatively weak in comparison to the beaming smiles he usually wore. "That's true - I'm an idiot. I'm really sorry about that," he apologised. Honestly, he really should watch his words better next time.
The second-year grinned a little at the girl for her answer. "I'm glad that's okay," he said, smiling. He nodded once at the second-year's words, still caught up he was over the fact that he had basically been an absolute hypocrite throughout this conversation. But his eyebrows soon furrowed once again at Minji's words. "Oh right. You do have a point," he said, laughing. Surely she wouldn't have known the kind of person he was, considering that they have just met. Perhaps he had been too used to people's reactions to him at his old school. "A similar image?" the boy began, tilting his head to the side in query. Until realisation dawned on his features. "Yeah! You could say that!" he quipped, grinning. He chomped off another piece of tempura; his bento box had been finished just some time ago. "Oh hey, feel free to take anything else. I have...a lot to go through."
