Standing in front of the vending machines at the entrance of the dorms was Daichi. The boy was decked out in his normal street clothes consisting of a hoodie, jeans and sneakers. Waiting for his green tea to drop. He had stuck around at the dorms most of the break, every now and then spending the night at Waka's house. Upon first glace some might notice his hair growing out a bit in the back. When no one was around he looked stressed, and worried.  

Daichi was tired, very tired. Lately it seemed that everything was just going to shit. Takeo and Miuna were . Miuna was still out and about from what he had been hearing though his own run ins with her were limited and rare. Takeo wasn't around all that much, he was hiding and when he did show up it was always quick and befit. Every time he talk to them, every time he tried to talk some sense into them and bring them to there senses. It never worked. He knew it wasn't going to be easy to cure them, that was a given but- God damn it he thought he would get some reaction. The hero didn't. Every time he was met with silence or being called for being a fool for trying. It wasn't enough.

It was getting hard to keep up his optimist front. What happened to the optimism he had? He still put on a happy face for everyone, because if he showed anything other then that what would happen? Daichi wanted to act like that again and have it be genuine.  Now he was just tired. Was he even doing it right? Did he even matter to the two of them at all? Was he just not a good enough hero? If he wasn't then just what the hell was he?


He quietly sighed to himself, along with running a hand through his hair. He heard he clunk of the bottle falling and reached into grab it. Though as he did he noticed a familiar face nearing the dormitory doors.

 

[Juon]

"What'd you pick? I'll get the same."

The voice called behind through a sigh from one exhausted Corea Juon, who was both more put-together and also more disheveled-looking than usual, creating an odd contrast next to the second-year he was approaching. Dressed in a button-down and dress pants with a jacket slung over his shoulders, some of his buttons were undone and his hair was a mess and bags dragged under his eyes.

He'd only touched back down in Otonoki, having set his bags down in his dormroom and gone out to get a drink before unpacking; it was an entire day's worth of travel from Kanazawa, by car, train, and then bus, with several connections along the way--it was trips like that that made him wonder why he picked Seiyo in the first place. He knew he wanted to get away, but had he really wanted this far?

There was an odd heaviness to the air when he got back, though. Admittedly he hadn't heard much from anyone--he'd expected maybe Takeo to line or tweet him, and he'd shot out a message here and there, but nothing ever came back. Twitter had been relatively quiet over the summer. He wasn't really sure what was happening, but he'd been glad to be away from it for a while; hoped it would clear his head.

It didn't, really, and being back simply brought back the entire wall, which promptly smacked him in the face the second he stepped foot back in.

If one thing was certain above all else, it was that nothing changed--not for the better, anyway.

Clip had been left behind in his room as Juon approached, hands in pockets, strolling up to stand beside Daichi at the machine, punching in a drink before a reply could even come out. He spared a glance to the other, catching an unexpected look that he couldn't remember ever seeing on the Daichi's face before.

"You okay? You look like something's on your mind."

[Daichi]

" Oh- uh-" Daichi seemed a little caught off even if he did spot his friend moments before he said something. Though it didn't seem he really needed to saying else as the older boy already punched some buttons. He did take a quick glace at Juon's attire. How, fancy, kinda, it reminded him of something you would wear to a family reunion. Considering Juon just got back from home that wasn't much of stretch. Then again he could have just wanted to were it, that was a possibility. Traveling home could explain the bags under his eyes- or a lack of sleep if Daichi had to guess.

He wondered if he had a fun time away from campus and- everything going on. Daichi thinks he would kill for a chance to go home, but whatever was waiting for him there wasn't going to be comfort just more stress of trying to avoid his father. Even if he was away all he would do was wonder what was going on at Seiyo and how his friends were.

Seiyo was always more of a home then his own. Home, is where the heart is right? And where all the people who care about you are? Then yeah, this really was his home.

" Oh uh- I'm fine. Just uh, tired you know." Daichi gave a quick and painless response. Well painless for Juon to hear maybe, not so much for Daichi to say, only because it wasn't the truth. That wasn't anything new though. However he couldn't stop tell people that he was just fine. Thats just how he was programmed. He was way to far in the game to stop doing what he had been for so long.

" How was you're summer break? You look pretty tired yourself." Daichi prompted the other.

[Juon]

"You sure?" he pushed a little harder, bending down to get his drink as the machine returned him with the satisfying clunk of it dropping. The can was still cold, thankfully, but it didn't give much fizz as he cracked it open, tossing the tab into the trash pail next to the machine. "You do look tired, though. Sleep lately?"

A usual sigh was huffed as Daichi asked about his own fatigue, and he rolled a shoulder tiredly, which gave a stiff pop in response. "Not... how I was hoping it would go," was his only answer, before he took a pause to take a couple chugs of his drink. ...It wasn't actually as cold as the can had made him think. "But, eight hours traveling, and here I am again."

He shrugged. "I miss anything?" he was almost scared to even just ask the question--there was always some kind of disaster happening, it seemed like, and any question that was raised about what'd happened recently would spin off into some long story of doom and gloom and despair and eggs. He knew what to expect now, at least, in that answer--or, at least, he hoped that he did this time.

[Daichi]

" Yeah, man. Just kinda of a rough week, you know?" Daichi laughed just a bit in a last stitch effort to at relive tension and doubt. It might not have been super convincing but it was better then- anything else he would come up with during that moment. The boy twisted off the cap to his own drink and took a quick sip before another question was dropped. Pulling his drink away from his lips to answered. " On and off- Though I blame Youtube for the lack sleep." He mused plainly, smiling a slightly like his normal self. It wasn't untrue, nor was it the whole truth. Youtube was something he did when he couldn't sleep but the reason for his lack of sleep stemmed from his own anxiety over all the things happening. But you know, details.

" Oh? What do you mean just a rough time with the family or the trip back?" The hero inquired. Before he offered a simple. " Well, welcome back home. At least you'll be able to sleep tonight after all that traveling, Right?"

There was a pause after the third year asked the last question and- Daichi wasn't sure what to say at first. Should he tell him about Takeo and Miuna? The whole situation at hand? He was, torn. Juon had the right to know, but- What if telling him hurt more the helped? Finally after a few moment of silence Daichi spoke. "Yeah some uh- not so fun egg stuff but, We're handling it. So there isn't anything to worry about." Junko and him were- They were going to try their best to save them. Everyone else had turned a blind eye or didn't even know where to begin to help. Daichi didn't blame them. As much as he wanted to just take a break he couldn't. There was no way he would ever just- step away from his friends. So here he was stressing over his friends, their hearts eggs and maybe even their sanity.

That's just apart of being a 'hero', right?

[Juon]

"Ah, yeah, I get that. I do the same every now and then... Easy to fall asleep to after a while," he offered in response; though he had an easy time believing Daichi, there was something else itching at him trying to tell him that it wasn't the whole truth; but he wasn't sure that he could dig any further, nor did he know how to. It was difficult to even place where exactly those feelings seemed to be stemming from--even if he may have wanted to ig deeper, he had no grounds to try on, and it would probably just make things worse.

"Well, you know how family is," he instead tried to distract himself and put his effort instead into brushing off the topic of his trip. Even from this he ended up diverted, though--'welcome home' were words that had an unexpected ring to them he hadn't expected. Had he at any point started considering Otonoki his home?... It was a strange concept.

A pause, though, as Daichi filled him in on what had happened--though it didn't feel much like an actual filling in. It was unsettling that Daichi wouldn't share details, even if Juon probably didn't want them anyway; but was he still hiding something?

"... If you say so. But uh, if you need my help, I'll be around to, uh, do what I can, alright? Don't try to tackle this alone, or whatever." Big words coming from him, and in a way he hoped that Daichi wouldn't take him up on them--but he tried not to think much of it, shifting to take a few chugs of his drink.

[Daichi]

The boy offered a weak. "Yeah." For a moment he wondered what Juon's family was like. He figure they were, normal. He knew he had a younger sister. He didn't know much about his parents. Or anyone beyond that scope. He hoped that whatever Juon went home too wasn't so bad. Though considering he willing went home. Maybe it wasn't all that bad.

He was a little surprised to hear Juon say something like that. It wasn't unwelcome but at the same time he wasnt sure if he should tell him about everything that was going on. Much less get him wrapped up in something he wouldn't want to deal- or even couldn't deal with. Even though he knew Takeo and him were friends and that he had the right to know what was going on...

" Thanks, Juon. I'll keep that in mind but-" He started then stopped himself, then sighed. " Its just a lot of not so fun egg stuff. Its just a lot of stress and a lot of- effort. I guess. I'm trying to take of it. So theres nothing to worry about." He wasn't trying to shoulder everything. It just seemed easier to tell Juon, he was handling it so he didn't worry to much. Even if it wasn't the whole truth. He didn't know how to get to Takeo. Even so he wasn't going to just, leave him as he was.

[Juon]

"Well, yeah, of course it is," Juon's response came without much of a pause to Daichi's prompting that it wasn't any fun stuff. "What part of all this egg junk is actually fun, anyway; it's all stress and effort, if you ask me." He did then pause to take another sip of his drink, though; but it was more like a long chug, until he'd finished it off entirely. Crushing the can mindlessly in his fist, he then reached to toss it gently into the trash can beside the vending machine. "So that's what I have in mind when I make that offer."

Standing back up fully, then, he let himself settle to his usual stance of hands-in-pockets, staring half toward the vending machine, and half toward the floor. His foot tapped a couple of times, like he was trying to get himself to say something, but it had only created an awkward, hesitation filled silence as Juon attempted to get a hold of his words.

"... So you don't have to take all of it yourself, alright?"

The words were quiet as he forced them out; while he already knew he didn't want to be involved in all of the egg business, he even moreso didn't want his friends hurting or suffering. Maybe it went against his would-be self--but he didn't really care.

"Don't work yourself too hard."

[Daichi]

"It's not all that bad." Daichi told the third year softly, as to not shove his ideals at him but to really just- Give him another point of view. Adjusting the grip of his drink from the small neck to the body just so he wouldn't drop it. " It has its moments of stress and pressure. But... When all of it is over theirs a pay off. At least thats what I think. There's some reward in helping people. You get to watch them be happy and smile, and change. They get a little hope back. Thats something. It may not be much... Its no trophy or metal, but its worth something to me, I guess." There was a small pause before he continued.

" I appreciate it, Juon. I do."

He did what he did for his friends. For the people he didn't know too. If they were hurting and he had the magical power to help, if he had the words to help. Why wouldn't he use them? He can't just sit by not do something when he had the power and the willingness to help.

The second year watched silently out of the corner of his eye as the other seemed to fix his stance and think over what to say. Silence took over the air, it was vaguely peaceful he supposes. It was more time to think. Which is something both of them needed to do.

When Juon's words came out, he heard them. An then perhaps spoke too quickly afterwards.

"Who else will?" He spoke clearly though, asking a simple question. He closed his eyes tightly for a moment. Regretting, his choice of words. Not to say he didn't want to say that- But it sure as hell wasn't something he should say out loud even if he believed it.

Who else could help though? There were plenty of egg holders around. Though some of them, Juon included, were having a hard time grasping this whole egg ordeal. Daichi didn't blame them. Still it left him with very few options, and allies. Junko was already hurting, maybe even more then him, he was too but- He can' give it all up so easily. Yeah, he would get upset and he would cry. At the end of it all, he wanted to be there for them. With Junko or without her. Any chance to help them he would take.

His friends were all he had. The school was his home. He wouldn't give up any of it without a fight.

" I'll try my best not too."
