Why was she here.

Oh right, because of her idiotic big brother. 

In fact, it was even worse now, because somehow, miraculously, she had lost him in the sea of people. Stupid, half-baked, no-good, son of a---! Actually, she had run out of enough insults to call her brother. She scowled, her wooden clogs clanking hard onto the floor, as she stormed off in her search for Yasuo. Honestly, she never wanted to be here in the first place! She didn't want to go to Tanabata, and she especially didn't want to go with her older brother! If it was Yasuhiko, it was a different matter, but her eldest brother was much too busy to take time off of his doctor duties in hospital. 

Really, if Yasuo wanted to go with her in the first place, then why couldn't he just stay in one goddamn place. 

"Cheer up Yasuko!" a bright voice chimed; her Guardian Character appeared next to her, flying in the air as the first-year continued walking down the road. Really, there was nothing she should be angry about! Granted, her big brother kind of left her alone, but hey! There were so many interesting things for her to see and do! Like those game stalls, or all those shops selling goodies or all the food stalls - in fact there was this one takoyaki stall that had the most enticing aroma ever - but no, no Calli you must concentrate! "I'm sure he'll turn up soon! Why don't you relax and just enjoy the festival? It's all so great!"

"I'm relaxed enough!" she snapped, turning to look back at the brunette fairy.

In her midst of trying to irritatingly shut the sprite up, she hadn't been looking in front of her - and collided with someone's back.

Tanabata had been fun for Ai so far. Even though he left by himself, with no actual hope of having fun, he met quite a few people on his way and was able to briefly hang out with each of them. They played games, went to the wishing tree, had food, basically enjoyed most of the stuff that the festival had to offer. So it wasn't all that bad, was it? Well, no, while he had people around, Ai felt like he could do anything, but now he was left alone once again.

Why did he even go to Tanabata alone in the first place? It mostly had to do with his overly concerned father who had somehow noticed that he looked down recently.He had been concerned with the recent dangerous egg-breaker happenings and worrying that he might run into one of those people. That and, he felt like he was turning into a bully himself thanks to his guardian character. Sure, he was fighting for justice, but violence is still violence. It's even worse... if you're starting to like it.

Either way, his dad insisted that he went to the Tanabata festival in hopes to lift up his mood. The boy hadn't gone there ever since his mom was hospitalized, so the man thought it would be a good thing to make more good memories in that place, hopefully with some friends. But it so happened that his weren't available on that day. He did later run into a few school mates, but now, after they all had gone, Ai was thinking of leaving himself... although he hadn't seen the fireworks yet.

As he was heading out, Ai spotted a familiar face. He remembered having met the girl briefly and talking about song writing. "Hey, Yasu-" He didn't get to finish his sentence when the girl bumped into an older man's back, who quickly turned around and started screaming at her. He looked a little drunk. Everyone was staring at them and Ai felt that he should step in, since they knew each other. "Excuse me..." he approached the two. "Do you think you could let it slide? She didn't mean to upset you..."

"Ow!" Yasuko cried as she fell backwards, landing on her rear end. Really she shouldn't be storming off so violently if she was going to hit someone so hard that she too would fall backwards from the force itself. But she didn't even have time to say anything, for a loud shouting voice soon penetrated her ears. Oh god. She made someone angry didn't she? Instinctively she flinched at the screams and she daren't look up at the guy that she had just crashed into. And with his voice, everyone must be staring at them right about now. Honestly, could this day get any better?

She should apologise right? But with the way the guy was screaming at her, she doubted she could get a word in. And the fact that his shouting was cutting through all of her thoughts, unable to allow her to form something coherent to say. Instead, all she did was just sit on the floor, her head down, as the guy continuously yelled at her. Man, was she useless.

But she soon heard a familiar voice - and she turned towards it, blinking in surprise. It was Ai! What was Ai doing here?

He seemed to be conversing with the man. "Do you think you could let it slide? She didn't mean to upset you..." Ah! This was her cue right? She scrambled to her feet as quickly as she could - and nearly tripped once again on those wooden clogs, honestly she kept forgetting how flimsy they potentially were - before bowing deep. "I-I'm sorry!" Good god, this was embarrassing.

It all turned out well in the end with Yasuko apologizing. Although the man still seemed angry, his friends next to him dragged him away before he embarrassed himself further. Ai finally let out a sigh of relief as he was out of sight. Some people really had no self-restraint and he hated that about them. The boy silently blamed them for giving Yasuko a hard time for no reason. She was just a helpless high school student, why even pick one her? Did they not have a conscience?

“Are you okay?” He asked, a concerned look on his face. “I don’t know if this was the right way to go about it but, at least they left… You can’t really reason with people like them.” He sighed then looked at her again. “But you shouldn’t be here alone, there are lots of bad things that could happen. Is there really nobody accompanying you?” He almost sounded like a concerned, overbearing mother. But really, he couldn’t let one of his club members get hurt.

“Can I get you some tea or something, you did seem quite surprised back there.” He looked around for a stall where he could possibly get her a hot beverage.

"Ah um--!" the girl startled out of her trance, before she checked herself all over. There was dirt peppering the bottom of her yukata; she reached out to dust them off as much as she could. Really though, this was one of her old yukatas, so it didn't quite matter. "Yeah I'm...I'm fine," she said, as she straightened up. Honestly, she was still a little shocked - she rarely, if ever, met anyone who suddenly shouted at her like that for no reason, and she froze pretty much immediately the moment it happened. It was as if the whole event took a while to really sink in.

She looked back at him at his question, a bit of surprise on her face, before she averted her gaze away to the ground. Lots of bad things that could happen huh? Somehow, it reminded her of all the X-eggs and the Egg Hunters and everything else that happened in the last few weeks..."Well um-" she stared, her head turning left and right as if she was searching for somebody. "I was here with my brother - he's the one that dragged me out to Tanabata - but we lost each other in the crowd." And what a crowd there was today. Tanabata was such a bright and colourful festival that it drew many visitors over the years, but it did little for her mood since the recent events.

"Huh? Oh um- I mean, yeah sure." Was she still a little shocked? Probably. Maybe it was best to just stick with him for a while until she could find her brother. Especially with the amount of people here.
