[AQ] The Heartless Eggs [Ji-Yoo, Shun, Yukiya/ADMIN]

[Yukiya]

It wouldn't have killed Ji Yoo to act a little more worried, but Yuki just shrugged it off. Actually her lack of outward emotion helped him focus more on the situation, especially since Shun and his guardian character were arguing. It seemed weird that a chara would say such negative things, but maybe it was to motivate Shun?

The few people on the train with them were starting to stare, so he tried to block Shun's view of them. He probably needed a space where he could let go of his fears and worries, because they were probably getting into something really big and he and Ji Yoo would need Shun to be as confident as humanly possible. "You're a good guy. You want to help people. A guy who wants to protect people is worth keeping in this world."

Damn, Yuki felt like he was some mentor in a shonen manga trying to help the main character. Except, well, Yuki probably knew less about this threat than the other two. He just wanted Shun to think that people cared about him. Towards Leo, Yuki tilted his head. "You can't blame the guy for trying. ...although...luring the hunters? I really don't think we should engage. We don't know what we're up against. Just think of this as a stealth mission. Gather intelligence from the school about these hunters and go. Or something like that," he said, shrugging, hoping Ji Yoo could add something, anything, as he felt as if he was grasping straws. At least Shun had an idea to talk to them. "...it's...a possibility." Something about their brutal attack on that female student made him doubt that idea, though. "But anyway, the most important thing is to stay together and protect our eggs as much as possible if we run into those guys."

The train was about halfway there. Perhaps they could talk this out a little more and figure out an actual plan.

[Ji Yoo]

Seeing Shun act the way he did right then was a little… disturbing. Ji-Yoo wasn’t used to his side of him. He wasn’t even whining like a child, like he always did, he was just… the girl didn’t really know how to interpret his actions. It sounded almost like he deliberately wanted to go there to get himself killed. Sure, Ji-Yoo said the same thing about 100 times today, but it was obviously a joke. He seemed to take it seriously, which was a little unusual for someone like Shun. She couldn’t help but wonder what made him feel like that.

It would be a lie if she said that his behavior didn’t discourage her. The whole situation was very discouraging itself, but at least if she were with people who had a tad more self confidence and will do actually do something, she’d feel slightly better about it. She was looking for people like Yuki whom she could sort of rely for, at least for emotional support. Even if Shun most likely had the power to fight, Ji-Yoo felt that he might chicken out at any time and drag them down. Which was an irony because he started this whole thing in the first place.

Ji-Yoo had to do something to stabilize the situation somehow, but the only way she knew of was…by force. So she pushed Yuki out of the way and now stood in front of Shun. She pulled him by the collar of his shirt and shook him a little. “Look into my eyes. I’m not like Minamoto san, so if words of consolation and reassurance are what you want to hear, then you won’t hear them from me.” Did he think he was making any sense? He’d be dreaming if he thought Ji-Yoo was going to sit still and allow him to be an emotional mess for the rest of their journey.

“Did you want to die that badly? Then you should have come to me. I’d have complied gladly. Did you think you’d achieve something by going to die alone? Or impress someone? Well, you’re wrong. Nobody’s going to be impressed. They’re going to think you’re stupid.” She was trailing off and not doing any good at this point. Ji-Yoo was probably just making things worse. “If you’re still thinking of dying and being like this for the rest of the way, then we’re going to return to Seiyo with the next train.” She let go of his collar, her hands trembling. “But if you decide you don’t want to die, then I’m going to make sure you get out of there alive.”

About half of Ji-Yoo’s energy was wasted on these words, since she didn’t usually talk very much. She’ll probably have none of it left by the time they get to West Oto. ”But of course, you’ll have to help in case we run into those people. Don’t think I’m going to keep you with me if you’re just going to drag me down.” The girl let out a deep sigh. She definitely didn’t want to go with Leo’s plan. It would be a good suicide strategy, but since they weren’t looking for that, it’ll have to go.” I’m more inclined towards what Minamoto san proposed. We’re going to see if there’s something we can find out about the Egg-breakers from that school and possibly go back with information that’s going to be of use to someone. Then the senpais could go there with a bigger group and take them on.

Nice guy? It's not as much about being a nice guy as much as it is just trying to help out as much as he can. But that's when Ji Yoo decided to grab onto his collar and threaten him? He was startled, sure. But for some reason he didn't feel like backing out. It's probably thanks to Yuki and his more encouraging words. And really no thanks to Leo. They probably don't understand though, or even believe that he is constantly dissatisfied with his life, so much so that he's just planning to let it all go in West Otonoki. Even the happiest person can be broken inside. It's not like he's all sunshine and rainbows underneath all day everyday. Well, most of the time he is.

"I'd come to you, but I'd like to think you're a much better person than that." Oh, when he talks back and tries to be serious, it just isn't scary. He still finds the time to be nice while talking back. He's really hopeless. "I'm not expecting consoli-consoliday..." Oh boy, it just makes it difficult to take it seriously when he can't even say the word right. "Not expecting any sort of comfort. But I'm a special kind of stupid." He's pretty much used to being called 'stupid' as opposed to everything else. He didn't really want to speak up what he had in mind. What made her so sure she could get them all out of here if they decide to combat one of the egg hunters.

"If he tries to cower or run, he's not going to hear the end of it." Shun felt a bit like an underdog, almost. He did think about running away, but threats like this and his friends being around makes him feel like that is no longer an option. "Considering West Otonoki is probably crawling with danger at the moment, I don't think we'll avoid a fight." As much as he'd like to agree to Yuki's plans and Ji Yoo's endorsement of it, he feels like there is very little chance they'd come out of this unscathed. "We attract more attention as a group, don't you think? I don't know about you guys, but if we adopt a pack mentality, they might figure out who we are. But I agree that we should avoid danger. There is no mistake in sticking together..." Leo is stuck between the two. While it is safer to be in a group, he doesn't want to underestimate the power of these hunters.

"So talking to them is a 'no' then?" Shun is a firm believer of peace and well, just talking it out. He thought that there's probably still some good even in these hunters, which was absurd to begin with. "I don't think they're one to talk it out peacefully. For now, I guess I agree that we should approach it the way Yuki and Ji Yoo would. Just investigate. Worst case scenario is if they happen to find us before we get there. Or after the investigation. Either way, if you promised to be of use, you wouldn't even think about bailing out." Shun nodded, though he isn't really sure about where this is going.

[Yukiya]

"Whoa," Yuki muttered as Ji-Yoo pushed him out of the way to talk to Shun. Ji-Yoo gave Shun the more tough love approach, which at least got Shun to back down on his negativity for a bit. Still, he wondered what kind of life Shun had lived to make him feel this way. Did his parents raise him to be the overachieving type, or did they insult him a lot?

For the moment, Yuki pushed those concerns in favor of the mission. He crossed his arms. "Yeah, I'm sure we'll run into trouble. But it's better they corner 3 of us as opposed to 1 of us. And for talking it out...you know, I'm sure not all of the egg bearers at West Oto are hunters. Maybe we could prevent them from becoming one?" Too bad Yuki had no idea how these egg hunters were like in person, so how would he know the difference between a good egg and a broken one?

"The next stop is for West Otonoki."

Yuki straightened. It was almost go time. Everyone was scared, but they were here, and they had basically decided to go through with this. He just hoped that, for the people at West Oto he knew many years ago, that they were either not involved with the eggs at all or weren't a hunter. He opened his bag. His blue egg was snug in a pocket usually for cellphones. He poked at the shell, hoping to find any signs of life, but he felt nothing but a faint warmth on his finger.

"If you're gonna hatch, this would be the time, egg," he whispered, before closing his bag. The train stopped, and the doors were opening. Yuki stood up.. "Well, let's do this."

[Ji Yoo]

Shun really was a “special kind of stupid” in Ji-Yoo’s opinion, but that wasn’t necessarily a bad thing because she thought that the majority of people she met were stupid. But then again, for him to admit so freely to being one, he must’ve been called that a lot. Again, the girl didn’t know whether she should feel bad for him or feel bad for herself, but this situation required them all to stay put and be careful. They were pretty much going in blind, after all. Whether they’ll come back with some sort of information or hints or and up dead, it was completely up to fate.

“Stop trying to look for a strategy or solution, there is none. Or at least, none we can be sure of.” Ji-Yoo spoke to Leo. “We’ll most likely be forced to fight, but that doesn’t mean we have to look for it. We’ll try to keep a low profile and yes, splitting up is completely out of the question.” While Ji-Yoo liked independence more than anything, she had to admit that they needed each other right now. Or rather, they needed her since, for obvious reasons, the boys wouldn’t be able to put up a fight in case of a potential egg breaker encounter.

Ji-Yoo couldn’t help but shake her head at Shun’s stupid question. Did he really think those people could be reasoned with after everything they’d done? They clearly lacked a heart and, if anything, they could be some sort of zombies or have their mind controlled. “So I suppose we got everything set for the most part. And remember, if you’re not sure about something, just do as I say. Or, forget it. Do as I say at all times.” Such confident self-proclaimed leader she was. Only because she could never quite put her trust in anyone. “Also, Leo, since we’re about to step into the danger zone, I’d recommend going back to your egg and stay hidden. If you happen to be spotted, it’d be bad for us.”

Soon after the announcement was given, the train stopped in the West Oto station and everyone stepped on the platform. There they were. A part of Ji-Yoo still wanted to go back while there was still time, hell, she still wasn’t sure why they were doing this in the first place? But if the girl was sure of one thing, it was that she couldn’t leave the guys alone. “So um, I don’t know my way around here, so I’ll be relying on you for directions. Don’t think about dragging me to places other than what we’ve discussed.”

"But what if they're...You know...Like that against their own will, you sure we can't just talk them out of it?" A peaceful solution is always much better than a violent one. And besides, between Ji Yoo's eternal glare and telling them to do only as she says and Leo being pushy about pulling the perpetrators out into the light, there has to be some other way to do this, right? The look on Leo's face doesn't look like he wants Shun to listen to Ji Yoo all the time. Oh, this is going to be a problem. But the little guardian character will probably back out when Shun makes a decision on who to listen to. And then there's Yuki. Egg hasn't even hatched and already he's being dragged down to hell.

"While I agree that we don't have to look for one, we need to be ready in case they suspect us. If anything, I don't want an ambush." Leo's thoughts were never usually in the 'act now ask questions later' spectrum, but in this case, it's better them than himself. "Here we are. West Otonoki. I trust you won't be just be running away like a coward, right?" That's right, Shun can't really bail now. If only he hadn't brought the other two, maybe his actions would still be justified. At the cost of possibly losing his own life. Why does it have to be so complicated anyway? What about dragging her to places not discussed? Is there even such a place he wants to go to? He didn't have anything in mind. Not even a candy store. The mood is too heavy to go to one. It's just not right.

"Was up all night trying to figure out where to go." Leo could attest to this, since he was the one who forced and planned this before backing up the last minute. "Shouldn't take too long from the station, I think." He had a map with him, too. All thanks to Leo at least they really aren't going in blind, even if the others refused to go. The doors open and they step out of the train. This is it, isn't it? Well, better get going before he loses it.

[Yukiya]

The three of them headed out of the station and on their way to West Oto High School. Yuki's heart was beating. Unlike Suna's horror movies or the stormy night that he bumped into Ji-Yoo, this was actual danger that they may be walking into. Although the last words Shun said before they left the station - the possibility that they might not be doing this on their own - made him wonder if there was a ringleader. All gangs in movies had that big boss guy with the Italian accent (if an American movie) or a rough Yakuza voice (if a Japanese movie) that had controlled all the puppet strings right? Yuki doubted if they would meet them, but if there was one, maybe they could get their senpais to get to that person and they could take care of this met.

Or you know, it could be the beginning of a zombie apocalypse that they were getting into.

Why did he think this was a good idea?

Yuki took a few deep breaths. Soon enough a sea of black uniforms signaled that they were very close to the high school.  As they all had come from school, the Seiyo uniforms stood out way too much. It was just another reason to just get the hell out of here. There had to be a good excuse for them to be there, right? Yuki thought and thought of some reason, but it didn't really come to him...

Or maybe it did, as a blur ran right toward him.

"YUKI-KUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUN~" the voice shouted. It apparently belonged to a girl with pigtails and was probably less that 5'0 tall. She then punched him the gut.

"Where the hell have you been? I haven't seen you in years -- oh, you even brought friends! ...wait, don't tell me. We're having an art center reunion and you're inviting me and Nobu-senpai!"

Yuki doubled down in pain. She hadn't changed at all. He thought that being a high school student would've changed her, matured her a little bit, even if she was only a first year. And why did her punches get stronger?

"No, Gumi-chan. I haven't even been there in years..." he muttered. Ugh, this was lame, him already in pain. But at least Gumi seemed unaffected by the eggs or any of the bad aura that he heard egg hunters have. He took a quick look at her and did not spot any eggs, at least.

"Ah. I thought you came back to the center so you can finish your manga," she said, pouting a bit, "Kanpa-kun hadn't even become a real adventurer yet--"

"Nah, nah, he decided that it was too much risk and became a farmer, now anyway..." Of course she would bring that up. She was actually one of the biggest fans he had, but he thought she would've forgotten it by now. He was panicking, but thankfully the other two were probably confused, so he just gestured toward the girl with the biggest smile he could muster.

"This is Hayashi Tsugumi, or Gumi-chan. She's one of the old friends I was talking about earlier. We knew each other in middle school," he said, before turning back to the perky girl. "Gumi, is there a map in the school or something? I was planning to meet someone here but I have no idea where in the school it is--"

"Eh, is it Nobu-senpai? And what room?" she asked, running in place before looking at Ji-Yoo, "Ehh, I've always wanted to go to Seiyo because they're uniform is so stylish! Ours is just bleh. But anyway, yeah there's a map. Think you gotta go towards the adminstration office or something like that. Ah, I'm gonna be so late....sorry our meeting is short, but such is fate. I have the same number as before so if you wanna meet up again, let me know Yuki-kun!"

She blurred away from them, and it almost seemed like she bowled over some people, but this wasn't some anime or anything. Yuki took a deep, deep breath to calm down once again. They had to investigate and stick to the plan as much as possible. Although he asked for a map, where exactly would the three find any information about the egg hunters?

Upon stepping off the train and out of the station into the streets, the group would find that west Otonoki was...

... about the same as the east side.

People moved about, scattering in all directions toward their own agendas; some gathered with others, some moving solo and staring down at cell phones, some running late and deciding to actually run, and then of course the students moving by, the girls in black and green seifuku and the boys in gakuran--proving harsh contrast to the red-and-white of Seiyo uniforms. Though the faces were different, the mood felt very much the same. The buildings, as well, that surrounded them felt similarly; small shops lining the streets, some chain, some independently-owned; houses dotted here and there, with an occasional apartment complex scattered between; an eatery here, a corner conbini there--the only noticeable difference, really, was that the buildings seemed a little bit older.

A sign would greet them upon leaving the station, though, spread with a map and telling of all a handful of directions to major landmarks, too; including the school, which was only a few blocks away; it seemed small, from the map's position, but it was easily within walking distance.

[Ji Yoo]

“Believe me, I’d give anything not to have to fight. But one can’t seem to be able to reason with those people. Just like Leo said, we have to be ready in case a fight does happen.” Ji-Yoo sighed and took a few seconds to analyze the surroundings. The atmosphere didn’t seem all that different from the east side. If anything, nobody seemed to have the slightest idea about the danger looming all around them. Or maybe they knew, but chose not to think too much of it, like many others back at school did as well.


Ji-Yoo followed the boys out of the station with insecure footsteps. Maybe they’ll be lucky enough not to run into anyone dangerous. Just because she could fight, it didn’t mean that she actually wanted to. Against people so strong, they’ll lose for sure and while they might not really end up dead, their life after that will change forever. Jist like that poor girl’s. Ji-Yoo couldn’t imagine what it would be like to have her heart’s egg broken.


As they were getting closer to the school, A girl approached them. She seemed to be an old friend of Yuki’s. But dang did she talk a lot. That was the sort of person Ji0Yoo couldn’t really stand. She tried to ignore their conversation and managed to for the most part, but she did hear something about Yuki’s manga. Did he use to draw that stuff? If yes, how come he stopped? The girl was a little curious, but perhaps she’ll never get to ask him. It was none of her business, anyway.


The girl left soon and the three of them headed towards the school. It wasn’t very hard to find, but now they were faced with another problem. Should they just go in? Surely they’ll attract a lot of looks and maybe they won’t even be allowed to enter the actual building. Insecurities aside, she just followed the boys. If anything happens, she’ll just blame it on them.

As Yuki received a visit from one of his friends, Shun isn't really as jumpy or happy as he normally was. He would say hello to her, but he was too busy fidgeting over, well...Everything else. "Yuki's friend? Hello." The usual Shun would just cozy up and take a nice selfie with them, but this time around, he felt heavy. He brought people he wasn't supposed to, and he doubts any of them would be happy that they're here.

He decides to nod at everything she said, listen to Yuki and hear nothing from Ji Yoo. But he feels like he should...Maybe make less problems for them. He walked off to the side by himself. Maybe no one would notice. But he wasn't here to put everyone else in danger, but not even Yuki's words are able to get through to him this time. He does feel guilty that he brought the two of them here. When his friend left, he wanted to ask if they wanted to change their mind, seeing as Ji Yoo is not even keen in being here. "Why can't you guys just leave? Seriously." He frowned, especially at Ji Yoo. He KNOWS she dreads being here. Even moreso with both Yuki and him around.

Shun made a run for it before they had a chance to say anything else. He wants to distance himself from these two. There are times where his positivity just completely fades away. What with Yuki saying everything was alright, and Ji Yoo constantly trying to stare him down, he's nothing but confused. So he ran, he didn't want to deal with them. Forget the promise to Leo to not run away. It's not like he is running away. He just wants to get to the objective first. And maybe spare his 'friends'. Now he begins to question if they're only being forced to watch him like a 24/7 babysitter. Did they ever consider him as anything else but trouble?

He didn't need that. Not at all. He thinks he could deal with Leo's anger, but even his own guardian character is getting frustrated with him. It's not like he doesn't know what a complete and total ditz he is, but it's not like he doesn't think at all. He's pretty upset about all of this, and maybe the negativity is really rubbing off on him.

[Yukiya]

After talking to Gumi, Yuki felt a little more confident. At least they had a starting point into the school. He sucked up any courage he had, walking past the sea of black uniforms and ignoring the stares from the West Oto students. Hopefully things would be okay. They could find out whatever information they could get, and leave, and not deal with any of those hunters. He only allowed himself to think good thoughts, as everything else in him wanted to turn and run back home. But he'd already promised Shun that they would go through with this.

Right before they went inside the school, he turned to pep talk the two just one more time. As he opened his mouth, he noticed that only Ji-Yoo was standing there. He looked behind her, wondering if he just needed to catch up, but he saw no sign of the other boy.

"Shun?" he asked, looking back and forth. Immediately he thought: They got him. The Egg Hunters got him off guard since they stood out and what business would Seiyo students have with West Oto unless it had to do with eggs. His heart pounded and panic was all over his face. That guy...he was the one who wanted to go here and save people the most, didn't he? If they broke him, what would happen to the rest of them?

"Where did that guy go?" he asked, looking around, "He didn't actually...chicken out, did he?" Either way, he was gonna find him. They were all going to get out of here alive or else...He ran through the crowd, looking for him, and hoping Ji-Yoo would follow. But in the meanwhile, he hoped that his search for Shun might also lead to any clues about the Egg Hunters.

[Ji Yoo]

Ji-Yoo was trying to ignore the urge of running back home as much as possible. She felt so awkward around all these strangers and so painfully exposed. For sure, something bad was bound to happen soon. They stood out too much. Shun just had to choose this time to be acting weird. The girl didn’t really understand what he was up to or what really happened to him and she wasn’t sure she wanted to.


In the beginning, she just kind of felt bad for him for being so clueless and wanted to become a sort of “mentor” to him. But the more time she spent with him, she found him hard to deal with and confusing. Why couldn’t things just be simple? She certainly needed some simple in her life.Before they left, he didn’t seem very keen on them coming along, so maybe he was feeling guilty. Ji-Yoo may blame the whole situation on him, a little, but it was ultimately her decision to follow, a decision she wasn’t sure whether she should regret or not.


She was walking slowly behind Yuki, following his lead and hoping he knew where he was going. Ji-Yoo didn’t really like relying on others and preferred to be the one in control, but she wasn’t familiar with the area and school at all. Suddenly, Yuki turned around and his facial expression shifted. Confused, Ji-Yoo also looked behind them and the harsh realization came that Shun was nowhere to be found. This boy… was really too much. He was just going around causing trouble from them. They had already agreed not to split up and he was half-heartedly breaking that rule.


“That goddamn brat.” Ji-Yoo muttered. Now they might be even more exposed. Yuki dashed in the crowd to look for him and she tried to follow. “Way to slow us down.” She complained. Now that he wasn’t around, she could let out her inner thoughts. Because he seemed so sensitive right now, she didn’t want to provoke him to do something stupid and kept her mouth shut as much as possible. It didn’t seem to have helped though.
Ji-Yoo just hoped they wouldn't get lost in this big school or worse, run into them.

Juon

The school building was as average as average could be; it was the definition of the common Japanese high school, and the only building for several blocks to stretch upward three stories. It was humble, older, and it had but one sports field--a baseball diamond--stretching off the back. The distinctive note of a bat could be heard hitting a ball in the near distance, the echo rattling through the silent afternoon streets, just audible over the hum of the cicadas.

But it seemed their attention was diverted--and, soon enough, someone else's would be, too.

Someone had rushed past her in a hurry; she'd been just around the corner, leaning against the wall of the school with one leg propped up on it, phone in hand, the other in the pocket of a sweater she'd tossed over her shoulders (even though it was so hot already; she didn't seem to mind, though).

She was quick to look up.

"A dream," she'd muttered, though he'd passed her so quickly it was more probable she was talking simply to herself. "On my turf?"

Pushing off the wall with her shoulders, she propped back up on both feet, staring toward the fleeting figure. "Nooooo."

She took chase after him.

Shun continued to run away from the two, attracting unwanted attention. He can feel someone following him, but it isn't Yukiya nor Ji Yoo. "Hey! I'm not playing tag! Go away!" He shouted at this unknown person. At this point, Leo had already tossed himself back in the egg, just disgruntled at Shun's attempt to suddenly do things by himself. The more he continued to run, the more she followed. What the hell is her problem??

He slowed down his running, raising a brow at the figure behind him. "I told you to go away! I don't wanna deal with you, okay?" It hasn't occurred to him that this might be the worst case scenario. And even if it is, would the others even care enough to look for him? No, he doesn't want to think about that. He stopped and turned his heel to see who this person is. "Whaaaaaat? Leave me alone already!" He didn't want some new stalker from another school, yeah that's just mega hella creepy. "I don't have lunch money either, you know? So you're out of luck if you're trying to line your pockets." He huffed.

He was just a poor kid with no money. He's seen these sort of bullies before, and truth is, he just doesn't have the money to buy them a decent lunch even if he wanted to. "Unless you don't want money." Which in that case...Put West Otonoki and egg hunters together for a late reaction. "You're one of 'those guys'." Wow, he's so dumb he fails to even gasp or be surprised at it. That's very anti-climactic. "Ugh, can we not? I'll go get my friends and leave?" Wait, which way was back again? And is he serious about dragging this hunter back to them? Nah. It's time he showed that he can take care of himself. "Nevermind them. You know what, I'll stall instead. I'm sorry, but I think we should spend some time to get to know each other better, okay?" Shun smiled the fakest smile he could ever show.

Whatever happens, he'll have to make a stand here, he's not gonna throw in the towels. Maybe he can try to talk to her first? Violence never usually solves much. "You mind talking a little? Or is that not gonna fly?" Probably not. She seems intent on just doing her hunting thing and getting it over with. Shun wanted to avoid transforming. It's just something he's not used to. Hopefully Ji Yoo and Yukiya left already. He isn't sure if he'll return at all. After all, these hunters were supposed to be tough, right?

[Yukiya]

Yuki ran past more crowds of people until he finally entered a more isolated area. It'd be easier to spot Shun this way at least. "It's annoying, but I wouldn't want him to..."

He froze, as he saw Shun - and someone running after him. It couldn't be...

"Of all the things," he muttered. He couldn't tell if the girl was an Egg Hunter, but she was trying to catch up to him for sure. "Shun!" he screamed, hoping to divert her attention off the disoriented kid. The area had enough space for all of them to run around, probably something close to a courtyard with some benches on the side. Though he was the most vulnerable of the three, he instinctively went in front of Ji-Yoo.

When he took a better look, Shun looked like he was trying to talk to the girl, and Yuki shook his head. "Hey, come on! We have something else we have to do!"
