♥ THE PLANETARIUM
Located on the very edge of the school's campus, the Planetarium is used by science classes during the day, and serves as the meeting place for the Guardians after school. On the weekends, it is open to the general public and offers shows in the mornings and evenings; shows generally rotate with the seasons, with some one-night-only special shows happening around certain holidays (such as Tanabata). Though run by Kirishigi Notsuka, the local astronomer, the Guardians are also often encouraged to help out when they can.
Built well before all of the current members of the student body were born, the Planetarium was new in its caretaker's school days, having been a gift from one of its alumni who moved on to become an astronomer. Though its care and popularity wavered at first due to lack of those qualified to properly work within it, when under new management came to blossom into a popular attraction for students and community members alike. It is often considered as one of Otonoki's most unique attractions, and holds a very positive reputation throughout the community.
Guardian meetings take place in the main area; the seats all have small flip-up desks to allow for work to take place, and the nature of the amphitheater makes it easy for open discussion, which is usually lead by one member in order to keep business on track. The room's shape as well lends it to have good acoustics.
The building itself is tiny and round, topped with a large dome; a small lobby is found at the front, and the main area is in the center, curved and sloping in a semicircle amphitheater, a glowing podium for speakers at the bottom of it as the curved ceiling above receives the space projections. It comfortably seats 50, though there is additional standing room at the back. There's also a maintenance room attached to the side of the building that has a table and a few chairs, in addition to storage and equipment; the caretaker can usually be found in here.
