Wish Upon A False Star
+ Description: Upon suggestion of one insistent Guardian, Kirishigi-sensei gave into putting together a virtual meteor shower show during and a little after one of the Guardians meetings after school.
+ Go to the meeting and spend time afterwards watching the stars: +2 Guardians, +1 Faberge
+ Skip the meeting and come in late to watch the star shower: +3 Guardians, -1 Roost

Junko'd been to so many meetings, another one wasn't something she entirely looked forward to. It was no secret that Junko wasn't the type for things like that, you could tell just by knowing the girl that she was definitely not suited for sitting at a table listening to 'business' and what not. It wasn't that she didn't enjoy them, at least at first, but gradually the fun began to slip through. She'd had to sit through so many by herself, they just didn't appeal to her anymore. Not to mention with everything going on, her head was so clouded. She didn't know what to think.

So before she knew it, it was already so late. 

She hadn't meant to stick around the club room so long but there she was Drenched in sweat she wiped her forehead, setting down the shinai in her hands with a huff. This was becoming more and more common. She had begun to retreat to the Kendo Club room, drowning herself in exercises as well as her thoughts before loosing track of time so easily. Thankfully there was no one back at the dorm to really scold her for her tardiness...though she'd begun to miss it.

She let out a sigh, wiping her fore head again before she hurriedly changed out of her uniform. The Guardians were supposed to be having a star show after the meeting and even if she'd managed to miss the meeting entirely, she was sure Kirishigi-sensei would understand and let her attend anyway. He just seemed like that kind of person to her...or at least she hoped. She didn't want to miss out on the star show at all. 

With a sigh she finally headed out towards the Planetarium, hoping she wouldn't get in trouble for being so late...

[Daichi]

Daichi had been at the meeting the whole time sitting in the second row to the front. Sitting alone. Notebook loosing in his lap, taking vague short hand notes that only he and Taiki would understand. It wasn't like different from any other meeting. Only the fact there was to be a meteor shower was the only really difference. In loosely twirled his pen in between his fingers skillfully, while looking around. Junko was late, he tried to remember if she had practice today or not- Or maybe she was sick? He wasn't sure.

Quickly he pulled out his phone in the dimness of the planetarium. Quickly texting her a simple, ' what happened? Where are you? you missed the meeting.' To the ace of hearts. He knew if wasn't by choice, he doubt she just choice to skip for the hell of it. She wasn't that type of person.

Settling back in his seat he kept any eye on the door cross his gaze waiting for the girl to just, show up. He was kinda glad he stayed for the meeting, no doubt Junko would ask what she missed and he would offer his own notes.

She slipped inside, glancing around as she attempted to get in undetected. It was very unlikely since opening the doors let in a nice stream of light, but she could dream right? She weaseled her way inside, wandering over to the seats as quietly as she could. She scanned the audience before spotting a certain pair of heads she recognized, well as best she could in the dark anyway. She was sure the mother goose was worrying his head off as to where she'd been. She wasn't one for missing meetings if she really had to.

She sat down next to him, giving him a slight nudge with her elbow before smiling at him with a wave of her hand. "Sorry!! Practice ran over and I lost track of time..." She whispered to Daichi next to her, Tama coming down to settle in her lap as she gazed up at the ceiling.

He watched as Junko carefully opened the door and made her way inside. Taiki was smiling floating in front of him, elbows on his knees and hands on his own cheeks. " You worry way to much Dee-dee." He stated. Daichi watched at Junko headed over to them, and then briefly replying to Taiki in a small voice, " Yeah probably, old habits and all."

A soon as the other sat down he gave a smile, " It's fine, I have the notes, you didn't miss too much. You did make it in time for the meteor shower though. "

"Dai-chan you're really the best...!" She snickered softly, hands in her lap as she looked up at the star show. Tama settled herself in Junko's hands, quite comfortable with her spot. Even if she'd missed the meeting, she wouldn't miss the star show for the world. They were always her favorite part of being a Guardian, being able to enjoy the stars in the Planetarium was a simple perk.

"I'm so glad I didn't miss the best part. I've been looking forward to this all week.." She whispered softly.

The Guardians meeting had just concluded; there was a brief five minute recess as Kirishigi-sensei had moved off to the side to prepare the meteor shower display, with some students getting up and moving about. Some--like Junko--were only just coming in, but others were leaving early, and some were simple stretching their legs or mingling, or getting a better seat for the show. Kirishigi seemed oblivious to the activities going on around him, but a pleased feeling seemed to come off of him knowing that more people had arrived.

It was a rare treat to get a show like this; generally, they were paid events reserved for weekends, attended by the general public. Additionally, it was an opportunity to hear Kirishigi speak--being the quiet man he was, he didn't tend to say all that much outside of his own presentations. But he would often come into his own during them, the faintest hint of a sparkle almost appearing in his eyes as he discussed space.

The lights dimmed, plunging the room to pitch-black, and the projector whirred back to life, spreading images across the dome above.

"The time is pre-dawn, in the northern hemisphere," he began, his soft voice booming in a more formal manner. "And it's a day of no moon; the perfect time for a meteor shower."

Lights began zooming across the sky; one or two at first, slowly drifting their way down.

"These shooting stars--meteorites--form when dust and particles off of asteroids or comets enter our Earth's atmosphere at high speed, and come falling down to the surface. As they rush against the air particles, their friction increases, and they heat up; this vaporizes most of the meteors, leaving the trails we often see as they turn into what are known as shooting stars."

The numbers of them picked up; some made it all the way across, while others faded into the darkness.

"Most of these meteorites are very small, as they burn up the farther they get--some are even reduced to the size of a grain of sand. The break depends on the angle that it enters the atmosphere at. Upon colliding with the earth, their speed is around half of that when which it entered, and the craters they create are anywhere from ten to twenty times their size; but most fall into the ocean."

The shower seemed in full bloom, with lights blossoming left and right at all sorts of intervals, dazzling the surrounding sky and dying it a warm violet.

"What we are watching is the Perseids meteor shower; visible in our skies every August, when Earth passes through the comet's (Swift-Tuttle's) orbit, it peaks on the 12th with more than 60 meteors per minute. Though not the brightest of the meteor showers known to our skies--as such a title is reserved for Leonids, which occurs once every thirty three years--it is the most widely viewed.

"And why do we watch it with no moon, at pre-dawn? This is the time in which the meteorites are most visible--the moon shines too much light, obscuring them, and at the time of pre-dawn is when you are best facing the direction of Earth's orbit. Clear skies, unsurprisingly, play a factor, too, which is why those showers in the summer are the most anticipated--such as this one, Perseids."

Kirishigi moved down to the stage in the center, pointing upwards to a particular quadrant in the sky.

"Meteor showers are named after the constellation from which they appear coming from--Perseids being named for its apparent origin in the Perseus constellation. Perseus is the 24th largest constellation, found in the northern sky, and its brightest star is Mirfak, or Alpha Persei."

He fell silent as the shower continued, joining the rest of the audience himself to watch as it began proceeding into its climax.
