It was nearly midday when Miuna reached the park, hands full with two newly made lunchboxes. She'd been up all night working on them, trying to perfect the shape of the rice so that it formed a little duck. She couldn't help it though, everything had to be perfect. It had been a week since she'd last seen him, and she had no intention of ruining a good thing. Not that she hadn't already. After her first meeting with Hikaru, she spent the night lying in bed, wondering what to text him. Friends texted other friends, right? She always saw people on their phones, texting this person and that. They couldn't all be looking up the latest NASA discover or Science! Japan article like she was.
In the end, she'd accidentally sent him a garbled text of around 13 different emoticons before throwing her phone across the room. It wasn't that she didn't mean to send him a text, but she was still trying to choose the right emote. Immediately afterwards she had sent him another awkward apology and then promptly turned off her phone for the rest of the week. Whatever texts he'd sent her she didn't get, and finally yesterday morning she sent him a time and location for today to meet up, with the only other words being "Egg Hatched." With any luck, he'd know what that meant or at least be interested enough to swing by and make fun of her for being a social invalid.
Taking a deep breath, she started setting up the table, wiping it down and setting out the food. If he didn't come, she'd have more than enough to stress eat over whether or not he would ever speak to her again, or if she was better off just wasting the rest of her high school existence away as a NEET. With her luck, the latter was sounding more and more appealing.
